The '''Cathedral Church of St. James''' is an [[Anglican Church of Canada|Anglican]] [[cathedral]] in [[Downtown Toronto]], [[Ontario]], Canada. It is the location of the oldest congregation in the city, with the parish being established in 1797. The church, withthe constructionsecond beginningon the site, began construction in 1850 and openingopened for services on June 19, 1853,. It was one of the largest buildings in the city at that time. The church building is designated under the ''[[Ontario Heritage Act]]''.<ref name="Toronto Heritage"/> It has been the episcopal seat of the [[Anglican Bishop of Toronto|Bishop of Toronto]] since 1936 after the ''[[cathedra]]'' was moved from the Diocese's first cathedral, the [[Cathedral of St. Alban the Martyr]]. The church's choir school is [[Royal St. George's College]] in [[The Annex]] neighbourhood, which is open to boys in grades 3 through 12.
