Editing for BPC

My main take away from editing Wikipedia is despite the vast amount of information provided on this online encyclopedia, there is a lot of information also not visible on this site. As an editor for this class, I've tried to add more information pertaining to marginalized people, or lesser known movements like Afrofuturism. In editing PWR BTTM's page, I've seen people who have no tolerance for rape culture and others contribute to it. One user added a comma and the phrase "known sexual predator" every time Ben Hopkins name was mentioned in the Wikipedia page, whereas someone else changed the word "survivor" to "accuser." This whole experience as an editor has highlighted that Wikipedia is incredibly political terrain, and the way to queer up this space is to lessen the presence of white cisgender men who are the majority of editors on this site, and have more women, gender non-conforming folk, people of color and of disabilities take up more space on it instead.
