New Cricket Lead
editHi Elostirion, As a regular contributor to the cricket page, I was wondering whether you had any comments / concerns about the New Lead [[1]] I'm proposing. I'd be grateful for your input. Many thanks. David T Tokyo (talk) 07:09, 19 March 2009 (UTC)
Collective Nouns in British English
editThanks for the post Elostirion. I made the change based on information from the Cambridge Dictionaries, which, fortunately, gave an example actually using the word "team" ("The team are playing in the test matches next week."), and outlined the differences between American English and British English on this issue. You're absolutely correct on the issue of "their" and "its", it should have been "their".
However, it's all somewhat academic as I see that another user has since changed the structure of the sentence and in so doing, reverted back to the singular, rather than the plural. So, it would appear that your original approach has been adopted. Given your post here, I won't revert again; I sense this is a grammatically grey area and those kinds of edits invariably lead to trouble here on Wiki.
Once again, thanks for contacting me and pointing out what you perceived as (and what were) inconsistencies.David T Tokyo (talk) 03:37, 20 April 2009 (UTC)
Morocco profile
editYou are right Elostirion about the need to reference every claim or fact. I will try to be more objective in my editing. It is only that sometime I come across those ludicrous claims (sometimes well referenced like from Morocco's (undemocratic) constitution, or media) about the Arab identity or the numbers of Arabic speakers in Morocco. While the Berber langauge and identity is overlooked.
If you have a look at Morocco's profile in Arabic Wikipedia you'll find it full of official propaganda. Even the idiom used there is similar to Moroccan tv propaganda.
The dilemma of Wikipedia will always be ideology.

- Amazigh Man, you've been here for a long time and it is really long overdue that you should understand that you have to reference every claim or fact. It is really tiresome for people to keep reminding you of that. And bear in mind that this is not ar.wiki and behaving here as if we were supporting an agenda or another is not acceptable. You've been tampering with the main article Morocco and others when they are mainly supported by reliable and neutral sources while you are still claiming here that the Moroccan media is used as sources. Please change your attitude and have fun. -- FayssalF - Wiki me up® 12:05, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Fauna and flora of Morocco
editYou say in your user page that you are interested in fauna of the Maghreb, so why don't you write a nice section on the fauna and flora of Morocco. MassNssen (talk) 22:04, 5 October 2009 (UTC)
- I'm not sure I'm the most qualified person to write such a thing, but I will see what I can do about that depending on the amount of time I have. Elostirion (talk) 01:37, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
- Thanks a lot. That would be great! MassNssen (talk) 07:32, 6 October 2009 (UTC)
South Africans playing for England
editThere are currently 4 South Africans in the england side. Why did you undo my edit on the test cricket page?--Stewartm82 (talk) 12:05, 14 January 2010 (UTC)
- Because although there are indeed South Africans playing for England, they have qualified to play for England by remaining in England for a while (4 years) and acquiring permanent residence, as per ICC guidelines. If you were to include SA as a country from which players can potentially play for England, you would have to include pretty much every country in the world, and you would have to do so for every test playing country.
