Imwas

Imwas (Arabic:عِمواس) is a former Palestinian village in the West Bank located 12km southeast of the city of Ramla. In 1961 the village had a population of 1,955 mostly Arab Muslims with a minority of 40 Arab Christians. Its total land area consisted of 5,167 dunums of which only 16 was cultivable.
It was captured by the Israeli Defense Forces from Jordanian control during the Six-Day War on June 7, 1967. Most of its inhabitants fled towards Ramallah or Jordan. Today the Canada Recreation Park is built upon the former village.
