Arivanya
"No! Someone help me! Please!"

Arivanya is a High Elf bard who is married to Ulundil and lives with him at the Windhelm Stables. She takes over selling the stables' horses if anything happens to her husband, even though she constantly tells everyone how much she dislikes horses.

To get away from the stables and their stench she frequently heads to town, where she can be found in Candlehearth Hall or the New Gnisis Cornerclub.

She can be killed during the quest by Calixto Corrium, however it can be prevented by choosing to talk to Wuunferth the Unliving before Jorleif. If killed by Calixto, her body can be found outside Candlehearth Hall.

Arivanya wears a set of farm clothes along with a pair of boots. She wields an iron dagger and carries a key to the stables along with a selection of common loot and gold.

DialogueEdit

When spoken to she can say:

"Horses. All day long. Do you have any idea how dull horses are?"
"Ugh. I'll need to bathe thoroughly to get this stench off of me."
"I love my husband, but he can be a bit... dull at times."

If you have not completed Blood on the Ice, she will comment about the Butcher:

"If the guards would listen to Viola, they'd have caught the Butcher by now."

NotesEdit

  • It's possible that Arivanya was at one point meant to be the bard at Candlehearth Hall. She's in the bard class and has the same voice type as the bard who's there in the final game, Luaffyn. Luaffyn was also created much later than most of the city's residents and appears to be a very rudimentary NPC, while Arivanya was created alongside them and is more fleshed out. She also has a couple of notable quirks unbefitting her role as stablehand. She doesn't have any scenes set up with her husband, spends the majority of her time away from the stables (she is the only stablehand in the game besides Shadr to exhibit such behavior), is marked as friends with Viola Giordano and Tova Shatter-Shield, two women who are tied to the butcher investigation, she also mentions the former in dialogue, and can even fall victim to the killer herself. This all seems to imply that at the very least, Arivanya originally had some kind of bigger role in the quest.
