Thanks for the Barnstar

[edit]

¡Hola, Rosamelia! Muchas gracias for the Barnstar for Container Security Initiative, which was one of my earliest attempts to create a serious article not by my domain knowledge but by basic research. I wish I could say it lead to much more of this work, but I'm afraid I've become so preoccupied with Wikiquote that my Wikipedia work has suffered. That's also why it took me so long to thank you properly. I really appreciate the kudos. ~ Jeff Q (talk) 05:03, 4 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Il Divo's Concert in Malaysia

[edit]

Hi Rosa, to answer your question :)) Well, when Sebastian talks, his voice is more or less like David, Urs and Carlos but when he sings.. my girl friend and I just can’t help from smiling. I wanted to ask him why didn’t he try to make his voice to be more manly (ha ha ha), but we were not allowed to meet them in person. Their schedules are very tight, they flew to Singapore the next day. Yes, he could sing high notes and I believe his voice reaches the tenor’s range but he has lots more to learn. Until then, he is just a pop singer to me. What a waste, he should have seen his potential, he could be better if he works harder.David as usual just can’t stop amaze me with his gigantic voice! There was one time .. oh god, I felt like want to jump to the stage singing with them (push Seb’s aside, hehehe). I don’t want to offend experience singers like Pavarotti and Carreras but from by hearing, David is far better than them. I went to Carreras concert last year, though his voice is awesome but he is not as powerful as David! I never get a chance to see Pavarotti’s live yet. I pity Urs, his voice is damn great but he didn’t get much chance to sing solo like Carlos, Seb and David! Poor that man.. My ranking in Il Divo’s has always been David – Urs – Carlos and the consolation prize goes to your dear, Seb.I have no comment about Carlos, his voice is great as a baritone but there are times he tried to overshadow David. LOL, he never made it! I didn’t bring the camera because I was told we can’t take photos but many people at the behind row didn’t care. They were lucky while I am not because my seat is just the second row after the stage. The front seats were reserved to some VIP, I think or people from Sony BMG. The concert was great, if only I have the time, I will follow their Asia tour! Well done Il Divo! But what I hate the most are the girls .. I don’t know whether they enjoyed the marvelous voices or the guys. The screamed like mad dogs, lucky most of them sat at the back rows. Overall, the night was great! If i were to tell you how I feel, I think it would take days to express how I feel, the concert was damn great. The 2 hours concert is just not enough to me! David rocks! - Jay 06:49, 18 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

About the screaming girls, they did that every time those singers open up their mouth to sing. I don’t mind if they wanna do it while Seb was singing (Seb received the “loudest” continues mad dogs screaming, and I just cant' figure out why) but when David goes to high notes and they start to scream out loud, I felt like I want to scream “SHUT UP U BACK THERE!!”
I noticed among all, Carlos has this kind of “flirting eyes” when those girls were screaming. David just smiled and waved at them (oh .. that makes them screamed louder). As for Seb, he is as usual, smiling with his baby face and then he would look at Urs (and that kills all the girls there, many girls shed their tears.. oh silly!!!!) , while Urs is behaving so gentlemen, he is a cool guy, I would say “he is a down to earth kind of man”. He smiles and nods/waves a bit, that’s all.
At that time I was wondering what my girlfriend had in mind. I know she likes Davd’s voice as much as I do, suddenly I felt so damn jealous and can’t stop imagining me replacing his place up there on the stage (actually I thought of jump to the stage and push Seb’s aside). Ohh.. she can’t stop talking about David’s voice in the car until we reached home.. actually until I turned off the light to sleep. (yet.. she still said “that was awesome” in the dark)
The performance was so much spectacular and the crowds were much bigger compared to Carreras’s concert (full house actually). I don’t like Tenors who sing solo, I prefer in group because of the combination of voices actually makes opera voices sound so beautiful to my ears but, if David goes solo and sing kind of songs like the Three Tenors , I think I will still buy the album and watch his concert. I bought the Three Tenors CD long ago, listened less than 10 minutes, and end up giving it to my friend because I just could not enjoy listening to old men screaming in the melody I don’t get it.
Rosa, if you could tell me.. why Il Divo’s fans (the girls including you) love Sebastian more than others? Look at the poll in Il Divo’s forum, Seb is the favorite among all. What do you ladies see in him? Please, I’m begging u to fill me in.
PS- As I said, if I were to tell you how I feel, it would take days, yet, I doubt it will be over. The performance/concert is so damn spectacular and it impressed me so much, I have never said this before to any singers! Those who read this and have never seen Il Divo's live in concert, I would encourage you to go. You would not regret, well, unless you hate "popera"! Let me say this again "That was a spectacular, stunning, impressive and magnificent concert and should not be missed" - Jay 07:11, 21 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hola... me podrías ayudar a revisar la gramatica inglesa del artículo de Cúcuta?

Gracias!

Ricardocolombia ¿Mensajes?

First, I didn't add any images. And second, the article only lists a single source. If there are other sources, please identify them as such. Rklawton 00:51, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I checked the diffs. You and I edited at the same time, and I think we must have had an edit conflict that made it appear I added the image. I didn't. I've never even seen that image before. Next, the one-source tag is accurate and correct. If I remove the tag, then other editors are less likely to notice that the article needs work. That's counterproductive. By leaving this tag in place, others editors are on notice to help out. The tag itself won't cause this article to be deleted, so there's nothing to worry about. Rklawton 01:19, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
There isn't a tag that reads "I really really honestly used sources, but I just didn't list them so could you find them for me" tag. Until someone creates such a tag, the tag used is verifiably accurate, whereas your claims are not verifiable. If you would spend a few minutes looking up a few independent reviews for this musician rather then edit talk pages, you'll be able to cite the article and happily remove this tag. Rklawton 01:36, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]
The "needs reference" tag is fine as it is also true. However, you should admit that anyone looking at that article would agree that it has only one source. Indeed, you are the only one here who could know otherwise. I certainly understand your defensiveness. It's no fun having someone else identify your own mistakes, though it happens to everyone. You'd make a much better impression on people, and they'd certainly respect you more, if you just said "yeah, I really screwed that one up" instead of removing an accurate tag and making excuses. I know that confessing mistakes runs contrary to an attorney's training, but it's something you'll want to employ in social settings lest you risk "sounding like a lawyer." Oh, and feel free to lecture me on civility any time, I can always use it. Rklawton 02:11, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Good catch on that copyvio image. I couldn't get past the Yahoo link to actually see the image. I posted a note in the image's talk page asking for the original source only a few minutes ago. Cheers, Rklawton 02:47, 31 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for the laugh point! And double thanks for the "new message" joke, you little scamp :) Totnesmartin 18:58, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I support diacritics in the topic's name with us-ascii redirect. It fully satisfies wiki policies but some editors still move the diacritics to us-ascii instead of the redirect - which actually many editors think move from diacritics to us-ascii is wrong (loss of the information). ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 21:06, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You hit the point :) If there is a problem in the article - nothing happens - it is just an article. Btw. your practical joke is simply great, I was caught (twice :-[ ) Happy editing :D ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 22:30, 29 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Il Divo’s photos

[edit]

The admin (so happen to be a photographer) says the photos were great compared to other fan’s photos. Oh, my aunt would be very pleased if I told her this. She bought 2 cameras (Sony and Panasonic) just for her cats actually (we are cat’s people, I have 4 cats and she has 12 cats). She is very used to “moving” and “rolling” objects who just don’t understand a simple command like “stay still”. My uncle has no comments with her collections of photos with David and Carlos. Lucky I am not my uncle. She even have photos with them at the hotel, airport and in the limo. Imagine that.. she is 57.. my uncle is almost 70. uhm…woman!! Oh yea, she was with me in Kuala Lumpur concert and went back to Singapore the next day to catch up with Singapore concert. Crazy huh? - Jay 06:01, 30 January 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Mario Lopez

[edit]

Thanks for contributing to the Mario López discussion (Talk:Mario López), but please remember that Wikipedia is not a personal soapbox. (WP:NOT#SOAP). You can make the point about American families choosing to ignore Spanish spelling rules WITHOUT editorializing about whether or not they should be considered "latino" (which, since we're on the subject of spelling rules, should be capitalized), or whether they were good students, or whether Latinos are portrayed as "sexy" in the media, etc., etc. It's not appropriate for Wikipedia. Hola! To be honest, I don't like the proposed text. It is clear that almost in all cases English books etc. will use version without diacritics. I would support the use of native versions of names. I think the future is painted in diacritics colours on EN Wikipedia, it is inevitable. - Darwinek 23:54, 1 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Czus! Lol. :) Well, I think Wikipedia becomes more and more international and it's the only way to go. - Darwinek 09:59, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]
I don't doubt that EN wikipedia is much more INTERNATIONAL wikipedia instead of anything else, the key is in the internationality not in the englishonality :) ≈Tulkolahten≈≈talk≈ 13:08, 2 February 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Hola :) I came to your page due to your blanking of the practical joke in my talk. I guess you were correct about that one, I had no idea it was considered undesirable by the userpage guideline.

No sé porqué falté Jefferson y JFK. Quizá porque consideraba siempre a Jeff más un hombre de conocimiento que un presidente. Los agregué ambos a mi lista. También tengo que agregar a Colombia a mi lista de países que deseo visitar. 1. Puccini: Nessun Dorma
  2. Verdi: La donna è mobile
  3. Handel :Svegliatevi nel core

  5. La Capua: O sole Mio

David in La bohème

[edit]

David as Rodolfo? Was it his live performance in “La bohème” or just a studio recording? I figured it must be his performance in 2002? Uhm.. wanna hear my comment, his voice is great (compared to his concert in Malaysia/Singapore where his voice is a bit shaky) but.. a bit thinner than I thought. I would say he is a tenor spinto? He is definitely not a tenor drammatico. And who is the soprano? Her voice is awesome, almost mistaken her as Kiri Te Kanawa (obviously not Kiri Te Kanawa but close enough and very very good actually)

I was watching “Tosca” – Domingo when I got your message. Not only watching actually, I was holding a piece of paper (lyric) trying hard holding my pain sorry chest to sing “E Lucevan le Stelle”. Silly me, not only I’m having problem reaching up to the high note, I cannot even pronounce Italian correctly. (I think I should cut smoking /caffeine and start drinking lots of lots of lemonade and enroll for Italian classes :))

Anyway, thanks for the both the files, I enjoy them but I still want them to sing opera arias in the next album. Hopefully Simon reads my mail.

Rosa, do you by chance to have David singing “O Soave Fanciulla” – it’s an aria from La bohème too. Ps- Still downloading Carlos – Granada. Will give you my comment later. I enjoy Domingo’s Granada better than other tenors. - Jay 06:29, 15 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Oh yea.. you are definitely a “divo’” crazy for saying Carlos’s Granada is better than Domingo (oh lord, please help me) . For a baritone, Carlos is good but Domingo being a Tenor + thick stronger voice (more punch) than Pavarotti + Spanish made his Granada much better than a baritone (Carlos) and Pavarotti.

Domingo’s Granada is damn awesome; to be frank the best I have ever heard, far better than his fellow tenors, Carreras and Pavarotti.

As for E Lucevan le Stelle, I have to agree that Pav is still the best and the second best is Domingo. But I bought Domingo’s Tosca (I bought 2, the film (with Kabaivanska) and the opera (with Hildegard Behrens)) because I believe Domingo has more ability as a hero other than his look-not fat and has stronger voice (compared to Pav) - well, these are my preferences.

About the interview, I can only understand 10% of it. Do you think David could understand all that especially when the host interview Seb’s in French? David seems to be able to understand Spanish but what about Italian, can he speak Italian? Is it true that Italian language is more or less the same with Spanish? (If so, then Spanish speakers are damn lucky). If you have the interview translated in English, please e-mail or pm me. I love to hear what actually Seb was mumbling about :) . And Urs.. did disappoint me, don’t ask. (His falsetto just doesn’t fit.. for some reason my “ears” just failed him)- Jay 02:20, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

You are right, the song is great! Very good indeed! I think they are goin to put it in the next album, hopefully. Great work on the translation, you are so good. You know what; I just couldn’t stop laughing listening to Herman and his Frankenstein act. That horribly silly but that guy is good in what he’s doing. - Jay 08:53, 16 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Rollback

[edit]

Hi Rosameliamartinez, I have granted rollback rights to your account; the reason for this is that after a review of some of your contributions, I believe I can trust you to use rollback correctly by using it for its intended usage of reverting vandalism, and that you will not abuse it by reverting good-faith edits or to revert-war. For information on rollback, see Wikipedia:New admin school/Rollback and Wikipedia:Rollback feature. If you do not want rollback, just let me know, and I'll remove it. Good luck and thanks. Orphaned non-free image (File:Romancingtheworld.jpg)

[edit]
⚠
Thanks for uploading File:Romancingtheworld.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).

If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of "file" pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Aspects (talk) 02:42, 6 October 2009 (UTC)[reply]

File source problem with File:Antonio Ricaurte.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Antonio Ricaurte.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, please add a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a brief restatement of that website's terms of use of its content. However, if the copyright holder is a party unaffiliated from the website's publisher, that copyright should also be acknowledged.

If you have uploaded other files, consider verifying that you have specified sources for those files as well. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged per Wikipedia's criteria for speedy deletion, F4. If the image is copyrighted and non-free, the image will be deleted 48 hours after 03:12, 28 February 2010 (UTC) per speedy deletion criterion F7. If you have any questions or are in need of assistance please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. FASTILYsock(TALK) 03:12, 28 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Fair use rationale for File:Enrico1.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Enrico1.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Skier Dude (talk 02:52, 14 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Survey

[edit]

Hi Rosameliamartinez!

I have put together a survey for female editors of Wikipedia (and related projects) in order to explore, in greater detail, women's experiences and roles within the Wikimedia movement. It'd be wonderful if you could participate!

It's an independent survey, done by me, as a fellow volunteer Wikimedian. It is not being done on behalf of the Wikimedia Foundation. I hope you'll participate!

Just click this link to participate in this survey, via Google!

Any questions or concerns, feel free to email me or stop by my user talk page. Also, feel free to share this any other female Wikimedians you may know. It is in English, but any language Wikimedia participants are encouraged to participate. I appreciate your contributions - to the survey and to Wikipedia! Thank you! Your note

[edit]

Hey Rosameliamartinez! :D You're very welcome for rollback...even if I did grant you the right years ago! I hope you will choose to edit more; in all fairness, my recent high amount of activity is because I currently have a little more time to edit: however, I'd rather not edit at the activity rate I had years ago! ;) It was good to receive a message from you. Please claim your upload(s): File:Latin America wikipedia.gif

[edit]

Hi, Thank you, for uploading this file.

However, as part of ongoing efforts to ensure all media on English Wikipedia is correctly licensed and attributed it would be appreciated if you were able to confirm some details,

If it's your own work, please include {{own}}, amend the {{information}} added by a third party, and change the license to an appropriate "self" variant. You can also add |claimed=yes to the {{media by uploader}} tag if it is present to indicate that you've acknowledged the image, and license shown (and updated the {{information}} where appropriate).

If it's not your own work please provide as much sourcing/authorship information as you are able to.

This will assist those reviewing the many many "free" images on commons that have not yet been transfered to Commons.Sfan00 IMG (talk) 12:45, 27 July 2016 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2018 election voter message

[edit]

Hello, Rosameliamartinez. Voting in the 2018 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 3 December. All users who registered an account before Sunday, 28 October 2018, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Thursday, 1 November 2018 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2018 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 19 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Notice

The file File:Dan Konopka.JPG has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Unused crop of File:OKGo.jpg which is hosted on Commons. Dan Konopka redirects to OK Go so no reason for this crop

While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.

Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
