Disambiguation link notification for May 3
[edit]Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Canada's Global Markets Action Plan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Business associations. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Speedy deletion nomination of Joysanne Sidimus
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Joysanne Sidimus requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a person or group of people, but it does not credibly indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please read more about what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. Hello, I'm Oshwah. I noticed that you recently removed some content from Rob Ford with this edit, without explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry, the removed content has been restored. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 19:59, 22 March 2016 (UTC)

Help with article?
[edit]Hi there,
I noticed you're a member of the Wikipedia Finance and Investment project. I've written a new article and I wonder if you'd be willing to help out by reviewing it - Draft: Fifth Wall Ventures and making it live if you think it's ready? It's a VC-firm focused on real estate with about $200m under management.
Although I am an experienced Wikipedia editor and always try my best to abide by the five pillars, in this case I have a conflict of interest, so Wikipedia policy requires that all my work be reviewed by an independent editor before it's published. (Moved from "Draft" to "Wikipedia" under the "More" tab in the nav.) I'd be glad to do any additional work you think the article requires.
Thanks for considering this!

Help with article review?
[edit]Hi,
I've noticed you belong to the Wikipedia Private Equity task force and have worked on articles on this subject. I've written a draft article about a prominent VC, User:BC1278/sandbox/Mo_Koyfmanand I wonder if you might have time to review it? I am an experienced Wikipedia editor, and have created many articles, but I have a COI here as a paid consultant to the subject. So, as per WP: COI, all my work must be reviewed and brought live by an independent editor.
I am more than willing to do as much additional work on the draft as you think is required.
Thanks for considering this request!

Article Deletion discussion
[edit]Hi there. You may remember you reviewed and expanded Fifth Wall Ventures. As the other contributor to this article, I'm notifying you that it's been proposed for deletion at: Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Fifth_Wall_Ventures
I have just completed a significant update of the article, to help address notability concerns. It's available here: User:BC1278/sandbox/Fifth_Wall with the new material underlined. All the individual proposed changes/updates are in the Talk section of the main article at Talk:Fifth_Wall_Ventures, since I can't implement them myself due to my conflict of interest. Anyone not conflicted can do a review and update the article.
Thanks!

- I was asked about the post above here.
- The post is a pretty clear violation of WP:CANVASS. Lake Ontario Wind, please read WP:CANVASS and if you decide to participate at the AfD, please consider noting that you were canvassed. (it is better for you to do that, than for someone else to follow your remark and say it for you) Thanks. Jytdog (talk) 14:42, 8 June 2018 (UTC)
- I understand why it looks like CANVAS, but it is not. After checking the history, I notified all users who contributed to this article, as is appropriate in an AfD, and in this case, this user was the only one who had made edits to the article. I wrote this post intending to ping all users, and then upon checking there was only one. It is a pretty new article. BC1278 (talk) 14:51, 8 June 2018 (UTC)BC1278
- I would advise you not to make the edits as BC1278 requests because they are in contradiction with the community's established practice of WP:Edit requests which is for potentially controversial edits:
- Propose a specific change on a talk page. Don't add an edit request template yet
- Once there is consensus for the change, and any final details have been worked out, put a template on the talk page along with a short, clear explanation.
- A user who can make the edit will notice the template has been added, and will respond to the request.
- Dom from Paris (talk) 15:00, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

While I fail to see how adding new sources during AfD can be deemed controversial, there's already a sandbox where all the proposed changes and new sources can be viewed, to make it easier to evaluate the AfD. So that and the list at Talk can suffice. Once again, I pinged every editor who had made edits to the Fifth Wall Ventures article and since it's a new article, only Lake Ontario had made edits to the article.BC1278 (talk) 15:17, 8 June 2018 (UTC)BC1278
- You wrote

and thenAnyone not conflicted can do a review and update the article
, come on this is getting surreal, in what universe were you just asking them to add new sources? Lake Ontario made edits to the article and moved it at your request so of course pinging them is canvassing! Dom from Paris (talk) 15:28, 8 June 2018 (UTC)- I added the suggested new sources -- I wasn't asking Lake Ontario add their own new sources. As the edit request has now been objected to by you, it's automatically controversial and must be discussed on Talk before the edit requests can be implemented, so that's now off the table. It is appropriate to notify all major contributors to an article of an AfD. Where there is only one other major participant, as here, there is only one person to notify. I wish there had been several to show this would have happened, but I can't prove a negative.BC1278 (talk) 16:19, 8 June 2018 (UTC)BC1278
- You do not seem to understand what an uncontroversial edit is. Let me remind you what WP:Edit requests says
Uncontroversial changes don't require sourcing, such as correcting typographical errors or disambiguating links.
. Just because no one has objected doesn't make it uncontroversial. Dom from Paris (talk) 16:32, 8 June 2018 (UTC)

Nomination of Jimmie Lenz for deletion
[edit]The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Jimmie Lenz until a consensus is reached, and anyone, including you, is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article until the discussion has finished.
Oaktree b (talk) 20:59, 7 February 2023 (UTC)
- It looks to me like the AfD for Jimmie Lenz is headed for deletion. I have an opinion on notability, which could be changed. If you want to convince people of notability, then making a policy-based argument is the only way to go. I do not believe that there is any credible case for WP:NPROF, whatsoever. It is possible that there is a case for GNG. This would generally involve finding multiple independent reliable sources covering Lenz, and amounting to WP:SIGCOV. I did not find these on my search, but it is possible that they exist. Passing mentions generally do not suffice. I'd be happy to answer questions about notability criteria.
- As article creator, you certainly have the right to !vote. The reason is it often called !voting, however, is that the closing admin is supposed to assess the adherence of arguments to policy. So far, I am not seeing a policy-based argument for Lenz's notability. Russ Woodroofe (talk) 23:29, 10 February 2023 (UTC)
- I also do not believe that there is any credible case for WP:NPROF but still not sure whether he is non-notable, I tried my best to find published reliable sources about him; I have done my best. I want to leave it for other editors opinions and want to stay away. I have requested the closing admin, if it’s to be deleted, to shift to my user space. Thanks.Lake Ontario Wind (talk) 05:34, 11 February 2023 (UTC)
- Userifying can be a reasonable thing. A usual reason is when it looks like someone is not yet notable, but is very likely to become notable in (say) 5-10 years; or where a subject is notable but the article is manifestly not ready for main space. You can also leave a polite request to restore to user space at the talk page of the closing admin. Some admins are happy to so restore, others less so.
