2005 Kidnapping Scandal

What is the relavance of the kiddnapping conviction of Rabbi Amar's son, or the subsequent charges and guilty plead of the Rabbi's wife, have to do with the article? Unless the Rabbi himself was involved, or is speculated to have been involved in any way, the scandals of others (even if they are relations of his) have no reason to be mentioned or tarnish his name.
