Welcome to the '''Valve Task Force''', a [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Council/Guide/Task forces|task force]] working under the umbrella of [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games|WikiProject Video games]]. The aim of this task force is to organise, expand, clean up and improve articles relating to video games and products created by the [[Valve Corporation]]. If you would like to participate, you can start by joining the project below and/or contribute to the discussion on the talk page. Be sure to also check out the [[Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Valve/to do|to-do list]] for some of the project's ongoing tasks.

To indicate that an article falls within the scope of this task force, simply add "'''|tf=Valve'''" to the {{tl|WikiProject Video games}} template on the article's discussion page. For example, '''<nowiki>{{WikiProject Video games|tf=Valve}}</nowiki>'''.

==Objectives==

===Goals===

* To create well-written and properly organised encyclopedic coverage for all relevant video games, technologies, people, fictional aspects and other notable concepts relating to the Valve Corporation
* To create a consistent style for all relevant articles and related topics
* To steamline navigation between relevant articles
* To be a community of editors who like to focus on the improvement of articles relating to the Valve Corporation
* To indicate articles in need of improvement using our "to do" list

===Scope===

* This task force aims primarily to improve and organize articles relating to the [[Valve Corporation]]. It attempts to organise and coordinate the efforts of editors and create standards for constructing good articles.
* Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, not a fan site. Accordingly, we do not need articles that cover fictional aspects from an [[WP:WAF|unencyclopedic viewpoint]] and do not conform to [[WP:FICT|notability guidelines]]. Likewise, articles on video games should not focus on [[WP:GAMETRIVIA|how to play the game]] or on the [[WP:NOT#PLOT|game's story]], but rather give a balanced encyclopedic overview of the product. Our criteria for inclusion, as it is on the rest of Wikipedia, is [[Wikipedia:Notability|notability]] in the real world, not in the subject itself.

==Guidelines==

:''For more details on this topic, see the '''[[Wikipedia:WikiProject Video games/Article guidelines|video game article guidelines]]'''''

Besides the usual [[Wikipedia:Policies and guidelines|policies and guidelines]], please make sure you are aware of the specific guidelines related to computer and video game-related articles. Also ensure that you are familiar with the following topics:

# [[Wikipedia:Five pillars|The five pillars of Wikipedia]]: A quick rundown of the five key rules you need to start editing.
# [[Wikipedia:Notability|Notability guideline]]: Notability defines inclusion on Wikipedia.
# [[Wikipedia:Manual of Style (writing about fiction)|Writing about fiction]]: A guide on how to properly present articles covering fictional concepts.
# [[Wikipedia:Simplified Ruleset|Simplified ruleset]]: Fifteen rules of thumb to help you avoid problems.
# [[Wikipedia:List of policies|List of policies]]: A comprehensive list of the 42 official policies with very quick summaries.
