Ragini Chakravarty--Hindustani Classical Vocalist
RAGINI CHAKRAVARTY is a new generation Hindustani Classical Vocalist of the Kirana Gharana. A prominent disciple of Padmabhushan Dr. Prabha Atre. Gifted with a mellifluous voice and enriched with a refreshingly feminine style of singing Ragini has adapted perfectly to the Kirana gayaki which puts emphasis on melody and sweet intonation of words. Her singing takes one slowly and steadily into the beautiful inner world of a particular raga with elaborate meditative alaap and lilting sargams and then climaxing with intricate taans and fast compositions. Ragini has been doing stage performances all over India eliciting tremendous response from the rasikas. She has also been doing concerts on Doordarshan and All India Radio in different forms of vocal music. Thanks to the adaptability of her voice Ragini has excelled in the lighter forms of vocal music too including modern songs and jingles. Trained in the Gurukul tradition Ragini always finds time to carry on the tradition by imparting music lessons to the young talented disciples

Screaming Eagle Winery
Screaming Eagle Winery
About Screaming Eagle Winery and Vineyard
Screaming Eagle is one of Napa Valley's smallest wineries, and a California cult wine favorite. The little stone winery (a 12- by 18-foot stone building off Silverado Trail) is perched on a rocky hillside in the Oakville Appellation overlooking the vineyard planted in Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. The wine is aged in 65% new French oak barrels in a small cave for almost two years. Annual production is approximately 500 cases with most wine sold directly to consumers via a mailing list, however you can buy it here.
The winery was founded in 1989 with its first release of approximately 200 cases of the 1992 vintage. Owner Jean Phillips, who purchased the 60-acre property in 1986, along with wine maker Heidi Peterson Barrett have created a cabernet sauvignon that is sought after by collectors and wine lovers alike, these hard to find wines are often available only in limited quantities.
In March of 2006 the winery was sold to Charles Banks, a money manager for NBA players and other athletes, and Stanley Kroenke, owner of the Denver Nuggets and the Colorado Avalanche hockey team. The new owners have announced that they have hired famed vineyard manager David Abreu to replant some of the vineyard. It appears that they are also hiring a new winemaker - Andy Erickson. Andy has worked at Stag's Leap Wine Cellars and Staglin Family and is currently making wine for Hartwell and Arietta. He also has his own wine label Favia. Heidi Peterson Barrett will stay on to complete the vintages she has started through 2005.
In 2001 at the Napa Valley Wine Auction a collector paid $650,000.00 (US) for eight extremely rare 3.0L bottles of Screaming Eagle Wine spanning from 1992 to 1999.

Dj Inyoung
Dj Inyoung (real name Inyoung Whang, b- February 10) makes and mixes hardcore techno, although he does some jungle music. He is mainly known around L.A by fans of the genre who go to see him perform locally, although his websites and word of mouth have helped him get known outside of L.A. He began creating his own music in 1994. A tape with the music was what got him into hardcore. He had before heard mainstream techno, and liked hip hop music so the new sound intruiged him. He began going to lesser known parties which were where he first heard hardcore. He saved some money to buy turntables so he could listen more. Inyoung mixed his own music on the turntables soon after. As time went on, he released mix tapes which would play at parties. Next he came to the undergrond events again. He wouldn't only listen to hardcore this time, but performed his music. After getting some crews and attending more parties he focused on having his music produced. He got a few records released during the mid and late ninties yet would give this part in his career a break until 2003. Deciding this time to go further with producing his music has pushed his progress to what it is currently. He is in a band called L.A's fallen ones with another hardcore Dj, DTM.
Releases:
Dj Inyoung and Static's song "Beatdown" and "Respect your Enemy" have been released on several hardcore compialation albums and on the top 100 hardcore songs. His albums are on Terror Traxx records Oblivion Records.
With a website, multiple mixes and released records he is relatively successful in the underground harcore scene. [edit] Sources

Saint Dominic Basilica and Main Parish of Valletta
As can be imagined, the history of this parish is intertwined with that of the Capital and of the whole Country at large. The Dominicans have been outstanding in their services to the local population in the worst moments of its hi the plague, the French occupation, and, last but not least, during the terrible years of the World War II.
During the plague, for example, the friars never failed from their duty of assisting those infected by the disease even when this meant falling victim to it.
During the French occupation, the whole Dominican community was under arrest and imprisoned in Fort St Elmo. One of the brothers was executed by firing squad.
During World War II the Friars worked tirelessly in order to assist the hungry and the needy. As bombs fell and the war began to take its toll, the Dominicans were always at hand in order to give spiritual and material assistance. During those times many families in Valletta found refuge and lived for months on end in the crypt below the church that served as an air raid shelter.
____________________________
The Church
The first Dominicans to set up a priory in Valletta arrived from Vittoriosa some time after work had begun on the construction of the new city under the aegis of Grand Master La Valette in 1566. The foundation stone of the church was laid on the 19th April 1571. The building itself was designed by Girolamo Cassar and dedicated to Our Lady of Fair Havens (Porto Salvo). By means of a bull issued on the 2nd July 1571, the Dominican Pope, Pius V, elevated it to a parish.
Unfortunately, this first church suffered extensive damages, caused mainly by earthquakes. Given the dangerous state of the building, it had to be pulled down. Construction work on a new church began in earnest, this time according to a plan drawn by architect Anton Cachia. The new church, which is the one that stands today, was blessed by Bishop Ferdinand Mattei on the 15th May 1815 and consecrated by Bishop Pietro Pace on the 15th October 1889.
The Church measures 38.43 metres in length and 10.6 metres in width. Besides the main altar, it has six other altars, three on each side, together with two side-chapels. The altars are dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary, St Catherine of Siena, St Pius V, St Dominic, The Holy Name, St Vincent Ferrer. The side-chapels are dedicated to the Blessed Sacrament and the Crucified Christ together with Our Lady of Sorrows.
During the last years of the 19th century, the church’s ceiling was embellished by a series of frescoes by one of the leading Maltese artists of the period, Giuseppe Cali’. These works are now undergoing restoration. Other artists who left their works in St Dominic’s Church are Ramiro Cali’, Francesi, Muccioli, Bottoni and P.P. Caruana.
____________________________
The Parish
As stated above, St Dominic’s became parish by means of a Papal Bull issued on the 2nd July 1571. The Pope at that time was the Dominican, Pius V. In this bull Ex Debito Pastorali, the Pope constituted St Dominic’s as the Mother and principal parish of the entire city and its inhabitants. Naturally, not everybody was pleased that this privilege had been accorded to the Dominicans, especially other church institutions who claimed parochial rights over the new dwellers of the city. Controversy ensued, and the issue was to be settled definitely only in 1723 when Rome defined the new limits of the Parish.
Obviously all this is now history! It may be interesting to note, however, that, more recently, the territory of the Parish has been further decreased due to the erection of a third parish in Valletta, that of St Augustine, in 1968. Though St Dominic’s remains the largest parish in the City, latest records reveal that the number of parishioners stands at under 3000.
____________________________
The Basilica
On the 25th of March this year the Parish and Mother Church of St Dominic in Valletta celebrates the 190th anniversary since it was elevated to the status of Minor Basilica, the first in the Maltese Islands. There are several aspects and privileges of how one can recognize a Basilica from other churches. In these few words we will try explain some of these facts and the history of how the Parish and Mother Church of St.Dominic became a Basilica in 1816.
In the Brief the Benedictine Pope Pius VII states that he is granting this privilege at the request of Bishop Ferdinando Mattei in recognition of the heroic endeavours of the Dominican community throughout the plague which had ravaged the Maltese Islands some years earlier. He also expressed his desire to embellish with such a title the beautiful church that had just been built because, in his words, "it deserves to enjoy an added prerogative that would render it not only illustrious among the other mentioned churches, but also more venerable." Some months later Fr. Vincenzo Maria Portelli petitioned for the privilege to use the "mozzetta" and the rochet. Aided as always by Bishop Mattei his request was granted by the same Pope on January 16th, 1817. The granting of such a privilege is rare, if not unique.
Important churches in Rome and outside were called basilicas from the title given to important roman houses. These like the Arch basilica of St John Lateran and the Vatican and others are called Immemorial Basilicas. There are two kinds of Basilicas: Major and Minor. The Major Basilicas are only the four main churches in Rome, all the other even if called Pontifical Basilicas are Minor Basilicas. The Pontifical ones are under the immediate jurisdiction of the Pope rather than the local diocesan bishop, (e.g. Pompei).
The custom of designating churches as basilicas started in Rome around the sixteenth century and this title was given to Collegiate churches. The first Minor Basilica outside Rome was created by Pope Pius VII in Tolentino, the church of the Augustinian Friars that houses the relics of St Nicholas of Tolentino and which is dedicated to him. This was elevated on the 27th June 1783. St Dominic in Valletta is the eighth such in the world elevated in 1816.
The Cathedral church of Lucera was given the title of Minor Basilica in 1834. The Cathedral Chapter wrote to Rome to ask guidelines about what this would mean to them and what arrangements they were to do. It seems that other newly created basilicas had the same problem. The sacred congregation of Rites answered these queries by issuing the decree Lucerina on the 27th August 1836.
It is in that decree that the red and yellow ombrellone is given to all Minor Basilicas, with the four Major ones having it of gold and red velvet and with embroidery. The ombrellone at St Dominic’s Basilica is white and embroidered as this Basilica was created before the decree Lucerina and so the friars must have followed advice given to them from Tolentino and/via Rome. Basilicas created after 1836 are all uniform in their insignia as they could look at Lucerina for directions.
In 1968 the Decree Domus Dei recognised the singular role of a Basilica within the diocese and the Universal Church especially in its ministry to promote unity with the See of Peter. This was confirmed in the decree Domus Ecclesiae of 1989.
As a curiosity in the decree of Pius VII elevating St Dominic’s as Minor Basilica, the Pope grants to the new Basilica the right to be first to ring the Gloria on the Holy Vigil of Easter after the Conventual Church of St John. It seems that this was granted instead of the processional bell normally carried in front of the ombrellone called tintinnabulum or clochetta.
Up to 2003 there were 1073 Basilicas in Europe, 294 in the Americas, 40 in Asia, 12 in Africa and 5 in Oceania

Taxon Advisory Groups (TAGs)
What is a Taxon Advisory Group (TAG)?
Established by the American Zoo and Aquarium Association in 1990, TAGs examine the conservation needs of entire taxa, or groups of related species. Examples of some basic taxonomic groups for which AZA TAGs exist are amphibians, felids, penguins, and marine fish.
Search the Conservation Programs Database for information on all of AZA;s conservation programs. Members may log in to the Members Only database to access contact information for program leaders as well as all program documents.
Each TAG consists of representatives from AZA-member institutions, as well as individuals with special expertise, such as AZA Species Survival Plan® (SSP) coordinators, studbook keepers.
What do TAGs do?
Serving as committees of expert advisors, Taxon Advisory Groups assist in the selection of appropriate species for AZA conservation programs and provide a forum for discussing husbandry, veterinary, ethical and other issues that apply to entire taxa. Through regional collection planning, they recommend species for new AZA studbooks, SSPs and other zoo- and aquarium-based programs; establish priorities for management, research and conservation; and recruit qualified individuals to carry out these activities.
In addition, TAGs examine animal management techniques based on scientific studies and assist SSP coordinators in developing animal care and husbandry guidelines. Purposely organized along the same lines as the specialist groups of the IUCN-The World Conservation Union's Species Survival Commission (SSC) and Bird Life International's Taxonomic Specialist Groups, TAGs also promote cooperation and sharing of information between AZA and other regional and international conservation programs.
What is a Regional Collection Plan?
One of the most serious challenges facing zoological professionals today is how to determine which species are most in need of zoo- or aquarium-based conservation programs and how to use the limited exhibition and holding space most efficiently. In the past, personal preferences, the spirit of competition among institutions, and availability often determined which species were acquired and became the focus of scientifically managed captive breeding programs. Today, however, there is a growing appreciation of the need for an organized, broad-based collection planning process that better serves the conservation mission of the North American zoo and aquarium community.
One of the TAG's primary responsibilities is to evaluate the present North American carrying capacity for a given taxonomic group and recommend how this space should be allocated. This strategic planning process results in the development of Regional Collection Plans (RCPs). In developing these plans, TAGs take into account both the limited amount of enclosure space available and the need to maintain animals in populations large enough to ensure their long-term genetic viability and demographic stability. They consider the potential of selected species to contribute to conservation action through education, scientific research, fund-raising to support field conservation, and managed breeding for reintroduction. The goal of this careful planning process is that each species and individual animal held at AZA zoos and aquariums has a defined conservation or education purpose.
How are Regional Collection Plans created?
A number of criteria are involved in the regional collection planning process, and, depending on the particular taxon in question, various factors will carry different weights. For example, in the case of amphibians and invertebrates -- groups that encompass thousands of species -- collection planning often takes a short-term, project-oriented approach. In such cases, research potential may carry a greater weight in the selection of species than factors such as public appeal and ability to assist in long-term fund raising. The selection criteria, therefore, are flexible to allow each TAG to work most efficiently.
The following criteria are often used as a starting point for species evaluation.
*
Conservation status of species *
Existence of a viable North American managed population *
Number of other managed programs *
Husbandry expertise to manage the species *
Availability of potential founders *
Potential for managed population to affect conservation of the species or its ecosystem in the wild *
Reintroduction potential *
Scientific/research value *
Exhibit value *

Melvin has been called, appointed, anointed to reach a seemingly unreachable, lost and forgotten generation.
The message that he conveys is the "Good News" to bring about healing to a hurting world. Open your ears and your hearts to receive the "voice of this generation" as he brings the praise into the millennium and beyond...

Dana L. French
Dana L. French (1958 - ) is a prominent U.S. computer scientist working in the fields of business continuity, disaster recovery, and high availability. He has designed and written numerous software packages to automate the processes of disaster recovery and high availability. He is most noted for his approach to system administration as an automated process, rather than an interactive one. His work as a programmer and system administrator has influenced the design and implementation of Unix systems in organizations all over the world and coined the commonly used phrase "enterprise wide unique". His business function approach to system administration has caused a global shift in the way Unix system administrators perform their work.
He operates several companies that specilize in providing business continuity services to large world wide organizations. These companies provide services that include consulting, disaster recovery facilities, application and business function hosting.
French is well known in the Unix community for his advanced shell programming skills and is a noted advocate of Korn Shell programming. He provides source code for most of his programming work on-line free of charge. One of his most well known shell libraries is "shell curses", which is a shell script implementation of the "C" language "Curses" library. Another is "kshSQL" which is a Korn Shell implementation of a complete SQL database system. French is also the author of "shunix", which is a project to implement all of the GNU Unix utilities entirely in shell script code.
French is also well known as providing a MicroEMACS binary executable repository for a very wide variety of operating systems. MicroEMACS is a widely used programmers text editor. Linus Torvalds, the developer of linux, is a notable MicroEMACS user, and is known to frequent this site. French has provided continuous access to this repository since 1995.
French currently works as a business continuity consultant, and teaches courses in disaster recovery planning and Korn Shell programming. He is an author and publishes articles on these topics regularly.

Sonic Animal Alert
Sonic animal alerts are small devices that are mounted on the front of a vehicle and which emit a noise to warn animals of the vehicle's approach.
The purpose of these devices is to warn animals of the approaching vehicle. Animals so warned will not be startled by the vehicle's sudden appearance and then possibly run onto the road and be hit.
The sound emitted by the device may be in the audible region or within the ultrasonic region. Devices that emit an audible tone are powered from the vehicle's battery and are turned on when there is danger of large animals in the vicinity. Devices that emit an ultrasonic tone are generally unpowered and rely on the flow of air through them as the vehicle moves in order to generate a tone.
Animals such as deer are the main danger in many countries, whereas in Australia, kangaroos and wombats are the main risk.
It is claimed that ultrasonic tones may also be effective in warning smaller animals such as birds and insects.
Vehicles such as a car, motorcycle or truck may be fitted with these devices.

One Foot In Heaven
One Foot In Heaven, or OFIH is a growing band from Buffalo, New York. They present themselves as an Acoustic/Christian/Rock band which perfectly fits their qualities. The band includes members Joel Wolfe - (guitar, drums, vocals) Nate Wolfe - (piano, vocals) Vaughan - (Bass) - and Currently Searching for Lead Guitar. You can visit their website at onefootinheaven.com. Their first album was Where you Are which became an immediate hit, then a year later came out with Unplugged which is an all acoustic cd. And are currently working in Rough Cut-The Bitter End. OFIH has a bright future ahead of them and I'm sure I'm speaking on behalf of all their friends when I say I think they are going somewere.
