Perhaps under WP:FFEXCEPTIONS and existing policy you might agree to the benefit of a redirect to the now existing section at Anurag Basu#Films? Schmidt, Michael Q. 10:35, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • TOOSOON: Notability is not an issue. The only issue is— it is TOOSOON. I don't have any personal problem with such articles too. For example see Wikipedia:Articles_for_deletion/Dabangg_3. There are more newspaper articles on this "yet to start" film than few completed released films. When a bunch of reliable newspapers are covering, then why shouldn't/can't we?
People want to read, but, we have nothing to serve: The issue is: people will search in Google/Wikipedia and will not get anything here since we have some "TOOSOON" policy. They should think changing the rule. If there are many coverages, if people are discussing on it allow us to write on it. In such case if not the film then its plannings and preparations clearly passes GNG. Sometimes people want to read, but, we have nothing to serve.
When a notable film becomes notable?: Actually our (Wikipedia's) point of view is responsible here, On the one hand, we discourage Original Research, on the other hand we have done our own original research which somehow concludes "a film becomes notable only after its release". You'll read rationales like this regularly: No information on its releasing or it will release after M months, so, delete now. But, a film is not a one day event. A film sometimes begins much before its actual beginning and ends much after its apparent ending (sounds poetic? ). Also, an unfinished/Unreleased film may be notable too, see Category:Unfinished films
Personal observation: There is a kind of competition in Bollywood film articles, i.e. who can win "article creator's" title, everyone wants to do it, so, you'll face this TOOSOON issue regularly. TitoDutta 11:12, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
  1. WP:TOOSOON is an essay and not a policy, and
  2. I wrote both WP:TOOSOON and its related essay WP:FFILM (with its subsection WP:FFCLARIFY}) which speak toward reasonable application of actually policy WP:SPECULATION and the sub-guideline WP:NFF when considering the (usually over-ruling) primary notability guideline.
  3. Policy instructs that even when not yet meriting a separate article under an SNG, sourced information may always be written of somewhere within these page in order to serve a readers enlightenment on a topic.
As I offered at the AFD, I agree to a deletion, and simply suggest that until a separate article is merited, we send readers to the one place where it makes sense (and is allowed per policy) to discuss the sourcable topic of this film. If this AFD were to have occurred four weeks from now, I might almost have been arguing a keep under WP:GNG and WP:IAR, as our own primary duty is to serve the readers through use of existing policy and guideline. Cheers. Schmidt, Michael Q. 11:51, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
a) Are search engines allowed to index incubated articles? I searched few incubated articles (in Google), but did not find anything. b) a list of criteria can be set like: number of reliable independent news article published in N days, number of queries in Google (following Google). Sections which are already being highlighted and can be written in the article (eg. This is A's first film with B, The film was rejected by C and his rival D took the film, The production house has started making a N crore ruppes set for this film). Some mathematical operations can be added to find out an article's potential and eligibility, c) other reliable sites coverages (IMDb, BollywoodHungama), c) redirecting to another article's section will not be very helpful, since Google will almost never show Anurag Basu's "career" section as a search result of "Jagga Jasoos" TitoDutta 12:30, 23 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Study Wikipedia:Article Incubator. Incubated articles are set as < nowiki'd >" non searchable to the world outside Wikipedia, but to assist in collaborative editing as the article bides its time, one can usually include a (removable) find-sources above the header of the incubated topic. Quote: " Incubation is a "soft deletion" process whereby articles that have been found not to meet Wikipedia's content criteria but do meet the incubation criteria, which means there is an intention that the article can and will be improved, are removed from mainspace and search engines but remain accessible by non-admins so they can be collaboratively worked on." Hey Tito! So glad you signed up.

  • I would love to chat about how best to put your strengths towards the library. Would you be open to email or a brief skype/hangout? I want to share the projects that are ongoing, hear your thoughts about how to best direct our energies, and find some spots where you can easily pitch in. Working on outreach to Indian libraries could be a great area to explore. Hope to talk soon.

Take a look at Women's health in India.

Recently a new user has removed some of the content in Women's health in India saying that it was not cited. The reference which is in concern is not available online and seeing that you were involved in this article, I ask you to respond to this topic on its talk page and see if everything is okay. Just take a look at the articles history and see for yourself, won't take much of your time and I thank you in advance. Sincerely, Ugog Nizdast (talk) 18:05, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • I can not check Shah's source (since it is offline). Lead should be written in summary style, if those information are well written and well sourced in article body, it can be added in lead without any source. So, the question remains: does Shah confirm AIDS is major issue for Indian women, if it is an African country, I can understand (I have read newspaper reports too). But, is it so alarming in India? --TitoDutta 18:16, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
Dang, I was expecting you to be in possession of the sources. In that case, if you know anyone who has it, please tell them to take a look at this. Yup, then it remains the same and the user has a point. Thanks. Ugog Nizdast (talk) 18:56, 25 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Feel free to contact me directly if you have any questions. Thank you! Tito☸Dutta 21:26, 27 August 2013 (UTC)User talk:108.235.13.244 From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia Recent edits to Rail transportation in the United States

The above is a general form rejection that does not respond to my below letter to him:

Dear Stealth Editor(s):

We have a problem here. You have removed this section entitled The Socio-Economic Aspects of Passenger Train Travel several times now. Prior to the last two times you deleted it, I asked you to please tell me exactly which of the below statements of fact you consider false. I said that perhaps removing them would be a better response than the wholesale deleting of the section. You did not respond to me. You instead deleted the entire section again.

If your criticism of the section is not that the facts are false, but is merely that you find the facts unimportant, inconvenient, or disturbing, (i.e., you personally do not LIKE the facts), I believe the managers of Wikipedia will not approve of your removing such facts. Just as you would not like having wholesale sections unilaterally deleted from some of your many Wiki articles, on similar personal grounds. Wikipedia is about facts. The below section treats several important aspects of passenger train travel. They are part and parcel of the history of rail in N. America, and I cannot allow their cavalier removal.

Are you a rail fan, sir? Do you not feel the loss of the N. American long distance passenger trains? Do you not wonder how and why this loss occurred? Well, millions of N. Americans DO feel the loss, and DO wonder how it occurred. The subject of rail roads does not consist merely of the physical, and is not limited to an analysis of the transformation from wood to steel wagons, coal to diesel power, low to high speed tracks. The subject of rail roads is much more than that; it has a human side, it has a heart!

I have asked you to tell me which of the facts in the below section you feel are false. I have asked you to be specific. I will then cite you authorities by book and page. If instead your authorities are more learned, footnoted, or better reasoned, only then will I allow a fact to be removed.

Respond to me, Sir! I have visited your several windows and edit histories here on Wikipedia, and have been unable to find any response to my above, nor any justification or support for your actions.

Sincerely, James Hannum Author of below section, The Socio-Economic Aspects of Passenger Train Travel:

  • * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * *

While the above three sub-sections discuss the physical development of North American passenger trains, the social and economic aspects of the development and decline of the long distance American passenger train are also important. For the hundred years between 1850 and 1950, passenger trains were an integral part of American life. The thousands of arrivals and departures of passenger trains daily across North America brought news and new people, and created stories, adventures, and excitement. Train arrival was a big event in the town centers. The taking of a train trip was a thing of importance in the lives of those who travelled seldom, and a thing of necessity in the lives of those who travelled frequently. Trains tied the states, cities, and towns of North America together. Adults and children alike were fascinated by trains, and the approaching sound of their lonesome whistles stirred the blood. The Death and Life of Great American Cities (1961) by Jane Jacobs.

The decline of the long-distance North American passenger train began circa 1950 and has been keenly felt by many Americans as a cultural loss. The automobile began to replace the train, caused in large part by decisions by the US federal and state governments to heavily subsidize the automotive and gasoline industries. Highways in general, and most notably the new Interstate Highway System, were built almost entirely with taxpayer dollars. Very few toll roads were built. In contrast, railroads continued to be built, maintained, and policed by the private railroad companies. Railroads remained "toll roads," i.e., their construction and maintenance are paid for by the individual travellers. This gave a tremendous economic advantage to the automotive and oil industries, over the railroads. In addition were the many subsidies and tax breaks given to oil exploration and refinement; these favored automobile travel over train travel due to the fact that several times more fuel is necessary to transport a human by car than is needed to transport him by train (the great majority of cars on the highway carry only the driver). Asphalt Nation (1997) by Jane Holz Kay. (Small is Beautiful (1973) by E.F. Schumacher.

The reason for treating the two forms of travel so differently has to do with the nature of North America's large state and federal political systems and their lobbies. There is more profit made in selling 600 travellers each a tank of gas, new tires, insurance, etc., than in selling a railroad fuel for one locomotive. Cultural and environmental interests have a smaller voice in large government. [The Case Against the Global Economy and For a Turn Toward the Local (1996), by Jerry Mander and Edward Goldsmith].

In 1930 a man would travel 200 or 1,000 miles from one city to the next by train, enjoying the sights, the dining car, reading, meeting new people, and sleeping in a Pullman car bed. It was considered the most convenient and economical way to travel. By 1980, most passenger service had been eliminated or restricted to the point that the same man no longer could choose the train. He was forced to take a car, and in any event the highways, maintenance, and highway police were paid for by his tax contributions, whether he liked it or not. E.F.Schumacher

Prior to 1950 in North America (and still today in much of Europe) one could take a train and arrive somewhere, i.e., in the centre of a distinctive and pedestrian city or town. The “center” was where the train station was usually located, and where everyone in the town met each other, did their shopping, had their craft and trade shops. You didn’t need a car. The joy was in walking around, being there. Cars isolate and surround the driver; pedestrians experience, interact, and participate. Asphalt Nation (1997) by Jane Holtz Kay; Human Scale (1980) by [Kirkpatrick Sale]. Pedestrian life defined the cities and towns. The train traveler was a pedestrian, delivered from one train station to another. Big cities would have many districts, each with their own centers. Density was desirable and planned, so that things were close by and walkable. The term “suburban sprawl” described the newly planned car-oriented non-dense places. The phrase "What's good for General Motors is good for America" was not only circulated, it was believed by most Americans. Suburban Nation (2000) by Andres Duany, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and Jeff Speck. Certainly it was widely accepted in the time before blue collar and automotive jobs were off-shored, and the Oil Wars began in Iraq. (Compare: Europe subsidized and continued its passenger train service much better than the US did.) [Mander & Goldsmith]; Swadeshi (1921) by Mahatma Gandhi.

The transition from rail travel to automotive was touted as "modern and convenient" in innumerable advertisements and political speeches. For example, the phrase “the American dream,” helped convince Americans that the car payments, gasoline, insurance, parking, and other additions to the family budget were marks of pride and advancement, rather than unnecessary financial burdens. Following World War II, the GI Bill gave veterans no-money-down home loans, but only for new construction, not for expanding or refurbishing existing houses in the cities and towns. This subsidized the building of millions of suburban tract homes, where everything was so widely spaced, one thing from another, that everything had to be done by car, and there were few pedestrians. Single-story construction of new homes and shops, zoning laws which forbade homes, shops, and office buildings in the same areas, wide and multi-lane streets, and the building of several parking lots on every commercial block (the lots being mostly empty except at Christmas) created a nation of increasing suburban sprawl. Every place began to look like every other place, with the same cars, corporate chain stores and food outlets, and parking lots. Trains could no longer arrive in the city or town centers, because pedestrian centers no longer existed. Labor and Monopoly Capital (1974) by Harry Braverman; Suburban Nation (2000) by Andres Duany, Elizabeth Plater-Zyberk, and Jeff Speck; Global City Blues (2003) by Daniel Solomon.

Most people recognize that there more difference between the three modes of travel (train, automobile, and jet aircraft) than their fuel, speed, and types of wheels. The differences are not just superficial. The true difference between trains and the other two forms of transportation lies in the humanity (modern phrase: community) of train travel, which is not present in automobile and air travel. [The Death and Life of Great American Cities] (1961) by Jane Jacobs. Fellow travellers on a train form communities, although they are temporary and transitory. People walk around a train, they sleep on a train, they meet each other. Part of this is because trains take longer than planes. Chicago to New York, New Orleans to Washington DC, Paris to Rome... these take 8 or 14 hours, and usually are scheduled to arrive at the convenient time of 7 or 8 AM. Being part of the train for that night, one has to share and interact with his fellow travellers, much more than he would in an automobile or strapped to a tiny airline seat. It may be said of the occupants of a train wagon: "In their communality is their beauty and strength, and the beauty and strength of mankind." • The website is (actually "was") down. I have a free account there. For example, you have an account at Wikipedia/Facebook and the whole website is down. I have nothing to do here. It is working now. There is an alternative page, hosted by Google. Please change dse-->cse in the URL after clicking. Google's CSE URLs are blacklisted and they don't allow me to post links. In the URL. But, one needs sign in to Google account to use it. And you'll not get the list of indexed newspapers at the bottom. But, searching (the main thing) will work fine and you'll almost never get errors. In addition, you might get few ads from Google (the same way you get ads when you search in Google, at the top of search results). Google will show these ads there. Not me. In the my3gb search page, I turned off ads, and changed search results to 20/page and compact views so that one finds many results after first click.
If such errors continue, I'll ask an admin t Mediawiki Blacklist page to add the link there ignoring the blacklist at WP:INDAFD, WP:INDT --TitoDutta 11:20, 28 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

We have changed the number of suggested articles and which categories they are selected from. The number of stubs has been greatly reduced, the number of articles needing sources doubled, and two new categories added (orphans and unencyclopaedic articles). We have also modified the layout of the suggestions and added sortable columns with various types of information about each article. The first two columns are:

Views/Day
Daily average number of views an article's had over the past 14 days.
Quality
Predicted article quality on a 1- to 3-star scale. Placing your cursor over the stars should give you a pop-up describing the article's quality (Low/Medium/High), current assessment class, and predicted assessment class.

The method we use to predict article quality also allows us to assess whether an article might need specific types of work in order to improve its quality. The work needed might not correspond to cleanup tags added to the article, since our method is not based on those. We have added five columns reflecting this work assessment, where a red X indicates improvement is needed. Placing your cursor over an X should give you a pop-up with a short description of the work needed. The five columns seek to answer the following five questions:

Content
Is more content needed?
Headings
Does this article have an appropriate section structure?
Images
Is the number of illustrative images about right?
Links
Does this article link to enough other Wikipedia articles?
Sources
For its length, is there an appropriate number of citations to sources in this article?

SuggestBot picks articles in a number of ways based on other articles you've edited, including straight text similarity, following wikilinks, and matching your editing patterns against those of other Wikipedians. It tries to recommend only articles that other Wikipedians have marked as needing work. New Image for Wikiproject India

Hi টিটোদা,

File:India Flag.png
India Flag

Saw the comic invitation at Northamerica1000 and designed this in photoshop. Will you use it in a Wikiproject India invitation?        17:38, 30 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • a) I have not invited Northamercia with that template (actually I invited him few months ago). b) your image does not seem to be edited in Photoshop (i.e. I can not see any Photoshop EXIF data, but it get deleted if you edit it in Paint after editing in (Photoshop etc), worse it seems to be a copyright violation of this, c) when writing words, try this combination Saffron blue green, d) there are many other works at WikiProject India (including template creation, essay writing, initiative co-ordination etc). Let me know if you want to do those. --17:59, 30 August 2013 (UTC)
Yes its edited in photoshop otherwise I could'nt have added the font glow, shadow + I think the EXIF data got deleted because I saved it in PNG after JPG. Its a retouched picture as you saw.        06:41, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
See this one.

Uploaded this one. It contains the EXIF data you mentioned.        07:00, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Horror Story?

I've received a query about the NAC of the AfD Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Horror Story (2013 film). I am somewhat torn here. I know you are an expert on Indian matters, and I respect Michael Q as a film expert, Lugnuts as an experienced editor also in the film area, and TG79 as a diligent digger in any area, but I do agree with the questioner that less than 24 hours was a little short for consensus and non-admin closing. I know little about Indian films (having watched a few in total incomprehension, but owning a few CDs of Bollywood music), so it's the procedural side I'm interested in here. I'm contacting TG79 and Michael Q as involved admins, and Lugnuts, and would appreciate your views on my talk page (rather than go to a drama board), if you get the chance. Cheers. Asaram Bapu

Tito, I'm hoping you remain involved in the discussions about Bapu. I know you and I had a little trouble communicating at first, but I believe you have the best interests of the article and the project in mind (that doesn't mean, of course, that we have to agree on everything). I understand you may have some reluctance because of the possibility of a future RfA, and I certainly wouldn't want to interfere in your judgment on that or on any other editors' opinions on the issue. That is, of course, entirely up to you. I just thought I'd throw in an encouraging word of support regarding the Bapu article, but whatever you decide is fine. Take care.--Bbb23 (talk) 15:51, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

  • RFA is not a big deal, I am continuously rejecting proposals, though I am being trained, i.e. admin coached by Moonriddengirl User:Moonriddengirl/Coaching. Yes, I have been following the discussion. Just now, you have linked WP:BLPCRIME. Chances are you may be asked that the section does not mention talk page discussions. The direct part of the page which deals with it is WP:BLPTALK. Now, WP:BLPTALK is badly injuring the discussion there. It is not possible to continue the discussion or do any improvement in such condition. I have found out another thing. A number of nest reliable sources are using Wikipedia as source, but our article is disputed so it is polluting the whole web. The tags (neutrality disputed etc) seems to be an urgent need. --TitoDutta 16:13, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks

Thanks for removing that double-post. I have no idea how that happened, I didn't even see a weird twitch or anything to make me think I was posting twice. :-)--Jimbo Wales (talk) 23:33, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]
