Hi Elvellian, [[Death of Ian Tomlinson]] is a [[WP:FA|featured article]], so it would be appreciated if you'd suggest changes on [[Talk: Death of Ian Tomlinson|the talk page]] first, and wait for consensus before making them. Also, as you're reverting, I want to make sure you're familiar with our [[WP:3RR|3RR policy]], which says we may not undo another editor's work more than three times in 24 hours on one article (whether it's the same or different material being undone, the same or a different editor). :Hi SlimVirgin. Thank you for your message; it was most interesting. I was particularly intrigued by your suggestion that since the article is featured, I should "suggest changes on the talk page first, and wait for consensus before making them" on the page itself. I am not aware of any Wikipedia policy stating that this should be the case for featured articles. Furthermore, I have not seen you advise anyone else to behave in such a way, and nor indeed have you done so yourself when editing the article. I thus have to politely, but firmly, reject your suggestion. I am more than happy to engage with you and other editors constructively on the talk page, but I will not accept that you (and those editors whose views you agree with) are allowed to freely edit the page at will, whereas I must post on the talk page and get permission first.

:As you will see, there is currently a debate taking place on the talk page itself. Of course, you are more than welcome to engage constructively with us, should you so wish.

:Furthermore, I am perfectly aware of the policy about edit warring. I know enough to know that since I only made two identical reversions, I am not in breach of the said policy. This was why the template was removed, why it has been removed again and why it will continue to be removed if reinserted - since it was clearly only put there to intimidate, in an attempt to stop legitimate reversions being made - those reversions incidentally, being the unexplained and unjustified removal of legitimately sourced content.

::Hi Elvellian, it's standard practice to ask editors to suggest changes on talk first when dealing with FAs. See [[WP:OAS]]:
