Instead, a reliable source says that the party has its roots in the far-right party Slovenian National Right, which was transformed and renamed after the failure at the 1996 parliamentary election - see {{cite book |last=Trplan |first=Tomaž |year=2005 |chapter=Slovenia |chapterurl=http://books.google.com/books?id=Lr5-AgAAQBAJ&pg=PA229&lpg=PA229&source=bl&ots=sXuPApt2EO&sig=oGK-lcEH1Th5mpDs2CInlf0kh3A&hl=it&sa=X&ei=_cpkU4_WEevB7AalloHICA&ved=0CEoQ6AEwBA#v=onepage&q&f=false |title=Racist Extremism in Central and Eastern Europe |editor-last=Mudde |editor-first=Cas |publisher=Routledge |isbn=9781134252534 |pages=225–246}} SNR itself was established after a split from [[Slovenian National Party]] in 1993.
