Poor writing and Possible Vandalism

[edit]

Ossining High School's former mascot and team name was the Indian however it is represented by the letter O, and does not have a mascot after the Riverhawk was disliked by many. After it was discovered by students that the Riverhawk is actually a flower and not a bird. This is still the subject of controversy today, and many students still wear old Indians jerseys and wear the headdress to games and pep rallies.

Apparently these same students weren't awake for most of their English classes. Also:

The current 'Teen Room' is currently causing drama in the community. The library patrons are upset about the poor behavior allowed in the 'Teen Room' and the disruption it is causing. The librarians are not seen as being cooperative with this matter.

While this is probably true, it seems like an opinion and does not belong on wikipedia. My condolences to those suffering the poor behavior of the 'Teen Room'.

Trying to make page better

[edit]

I'm trying to make this page better by deleting sections that are basically advertisements or are not written in an encyclopedic tone.

Please do not bring them back.

Agreed with this. Ginsengbomb (talk) 08:01, 17 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Copyvio "History" section removed.

[edit]

I have removed the History section as it was a cut and paste copyvio of a History by William Joseph Reynolds introduced by an anon editor with this edit. I am confident that the Reynolds piece pre-dates the Wiki article as it is copyright 2004 and the next edit of the IP was to add a link to the website where it appears. The only non-copyvio text in the section was the very last sentence but it does not make much sense on its own so may want removing. Nancy talk 08:03, 21 April 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Important people

[edit]

Listing a fictional character from a TV series as an "improtant" resident does not bode well for the town's image, or for the quality of this article. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 207.81.41.5 (talk) 06:57, 30 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Relationship to Ossining (town)?

[edit]

It would be interesting to know the relationship between the subject of this article and that of Ossining (town), New York, if indeed they are not the same thing. -- 50.203.31.238 (talk) 21:49, 23 April 2014 (UTC)[reply]

The Town contains the Village. But it does not contain the Town Outside. 108.27.241.203 (talk) 00:58, 11 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]
