The next night, Perry and Harry witness a body being dumped in a lake but are spotted by the killers. Back at his hotel Harry receives a call stating Harmony committed suicide, but Harmony appears, revealing she was mistaken for her sister Jenna who'd arrived in L.A., stolen Harmony's credit cards and then killed herself. Believing Harry to be a detective, Harmony asks him to investigate Jenna's death as a murder. She explains Jenna had come to LA to find her father because Harmony had as a child (falsely) told her she was adopted. After Harmony leaves, Harry suddenly discovers the lake corpse in his bathroom, calls Perry for help, and finds a planted pistol, so they dump the corpse fast. Police identify the corpse as Veronica Dexter. Perry demands Harry leave L.A. for his own safety. However, Harry doesn't leave, as he discovers Perry was hired by Harmony's late sister. He also seeks out Harmony, who slams the door on his finger, (accidentally) cutting it off.

Perry confronts Harmony and Jenna's father, and Harry reveals that he now works for Perry.
Harmony steals the van containing the coffin from Dexter and his men but crashes it, throwing them all from the van. Harry gets up, but, Dexter arrives and tries to run him over leaves Harry hanging off an overpass. Harry jumps on to the roof of a henchman's car and a dramatic moving car shootout commences, but Harry wins, finds Harmony, and he collapses from his wounds.

Harry wakes in the hospital to find Harmony and Perry there. Perry tells him he found out from police that Harmony's sister Jenna was hired by Dexter as his daughter's imposter after all and that she wasn't murdered but committed suicide. After Jenna escaped her real father's incest in Indiana, she located Dexter believing him to be her real father, only to find him having sex with Veronica's impostor who was the pink-haired girl. Because the impostor looked like Veronica, Jenna believed Dexter to be incestuous like her real father and - having hired Perry to investigate the incest - committed suicide. Case solved. At Jenna's funeral Perry confronts the girls' real father.

Kiss Kiss Bang Bang is a 2005 crime-comedy film written and directed by Shane Black, and starring Robert Downey, Jr. and Val Kilmer, with Michelle Monaghan and Corbin Bernsen in supporting roles. The script is partially based on the Brett Halliday novel Bodies Are Where You Find Them, and interprets the classic hardboiled literary genre in a tongue-in-cheek fashion. The film was produced by Joel Silver, with Susan Downey (credited as Susan Levin) and Steve Richards as executive producers.

Shot in Los Angeles between February 24 and May 3, 2004, the film debuted at the 2005 Cannes Film Festival on May 14,[3] and received a limited release in cinemas in October and November 2005.

Reception

Critical

Many critics admired the film for its sharp and clever comedy, as well as Downey's and Kilmer's screen chemistry and individual performances. Mike Russell of The Oregonian observed that "This is one of Downey's most enjoyable performances, and one of Kilmer's funniest. It's a relationship comedy wrapped in sharp talk and gunplay, a triumphant comeback for Black, and one of the year's best movies".[4] Jeff Otto, an IGN critic, wrote that "It takes a bunch of genres and twists them into a blender, a pop relic that still feels current...one of the best times I've had at the movies this year."[5] It was voted "Overlooked Film of the Year" by the 2005 Phoenix Film Critics Society on December 20, 2005. It has a rating of 83% on Rotten Tomatoes.
