Ranjiv Singh Dalal (born 2 October 1952) is an Indian Police Service officer of 1974 batch of Haryana cadre. He is the longest serving police chief of Haryana. He served as Director General of Police of Haryana from November 2006 to October 2012.[1] He is recipient of President's Police Medal, highest police honour in Republic of India.[2]

Biography

Dalal was born on 2 October 1952 in Rohtak, Haryana. He did Bachelor of Arts from Panjab University and later pursued Bachelor of Laws from Delhi University. He was a professor at Lal Bahadur Shastri National Academy of Administration.[3][4]

He served as Director General of Police of Haryana from 1 November 2006 to 31 October 2012 during Bhupinder Singh Hooda government.[5] He also holds the record of being longest serving Director General of Police of Haryana.

He was awarded the President’s Police Medal for Gallantry in 1980, Police Medal for Meritorious Services in 1991, and the President’s Police Medal for Distinguished Services in 2006.

On 1 November 2012, Dalal became Director General of the Haryana Institute of Public Administration (HIPA) in Gurgaon and retired on 30 October 2015.[6]
