ґ (g) (uppercase Ґ) (italics: Ґ, ґ)

  1. The fifth letter of the Rusyn Cyrillic alphabet (both Lemko and Pannonian Rusyn orthography). Its name is ґе (ge Lua error in Module:IPA at line 475: Invalid IPA: replace g with ɡ) and it has the sound of /g/ - voiced velar plosive. It is preceded by Г and followed by Д.

  • The letter ґ (pronounced /ɡ/) was absent from official Soviet orthographies during 1933–1990, substituting г (Ukrainian /ɦ/, Russian /ɡ/). It remained in use outside the Soviet Union.
