King was born in Edenmore, County Dublin.
TV career
When TV3 launched in 1998 King became an instant hit. He is best known for bringing a twist to the weather and the nation's forecasts haven't been the same since. His personality driven style of weather forecasting has won King many awards and he is one of the main features of TV3's news presentation.
He appeared on The Podge and Rodge Show in March 2006.
Radio career
King has been involved in radio since he was fifteen working with some of the more successful pirate radio stations including Big D and Sunshine 101. He spent nine years working at 98FM as one of their main on-air personalities before moving to TV3. Returning to the airwaves in 2002 King had his own Saturday morning show on Today FM called Roll Over with Martin King.
Philanthropy
There are a number of charities that King supports. The ISPCC, The Meningitis Foundation, The Baby Max Wings Of Love Fund, The Marie Keating Foundation are just a few of the causes that King is happy to give his time to.
Personal life
King lives in Dublin with photographer Jenny McCarthy and their children. They met when King was a 98FM presenter and McCarthy was one of the "Thunder Girls".[4] Jenny was struck down with a brain tumour in 2010.[3] King and McCarthy got engaged on Christmas Eve, 2010. They married in Killashee House Hotel in Naas, County Kildare, on 7 November 2011 and honeymooned in the Canaries.[3][5] The Sam Maguire Cup was guest of honour at the wedding.[6]
King's second youngest child, Matthew, is an aspiring actor, and was the star of his primary school lay, Joseph and his Technicoloured Dream Coat, two years ago. Matthew recently featured in a play starring Michael Gambon.
King is a keen sports fan, GAA and soccer being the two he enjoys the most. He supports Bohemians.[2]
Martin himself is a keen fan of cinematography and regularly attends high profile movie premiers such as the recent Cowboys and Aliens premier in Dublin City Centre. Martin was amongst the high profile attendees where he received much praise for his stylish appearance and entertaining aura.
The oldest of McCarthy and King's children, Dean (who King is a stepfather to) and his girlfriend are expecting their first child.
