Khadakwasla is a small calm and quiet place which is situated 20 km from Pune. There is a dam is one of the main sources of water for the city of Pune. There is a Dental Centre, Veterinary Hospital and, the most famous
National Defence Academy . Communication is at its best. Just a few kilometres up the road, liesSinhagad Fort and the twin dams ofPanshet andVarasgaon which mainly supply water for irrigation. In 1961, the Khadakwasla Dam had to be blown, as the Panshet Dam overflowed, causing devastating floods in the city of Pune. The dam was later rebuilt. Khadakwasla is a favoured spot for couples, and many people come here at weekends and during the monsoon season. Scenic places around the dam include Peacock Bay, Kudje village, and Neelkanteshwar, located near Bahuli village just past Kudje.Overview
The National Defence Academy is located on the dam's southern and western sides, and has the whole western shore for boating and sailing-related training. There is also a
DRDO establishment to the south-eastern corner of the lake which runs technical training courses for defence personnel. It has a Gole Market. There are a lot of attractions called the Rakesh Sharma Block, Manoj Pandey Block and equitation line. It is also known as Choupati. It has schools like Kendriya Vidyalaya, Kendriya Vidyalya NDA and St. Joseph's School. There is a hospital also named Military Hospital. About 12% of area of Khadakwasla is hilly.References
