Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute (SRMC & RI) now named as Sri Ramachandra University (SRU) is a university situated in Porur, Chennai, India which is established under Section 3 of the Indian UGC act of 1956.

SRU was founded by Sri Ramachandra Education & Health Trust headed by Shri NPV Ramaswamy Udayar [1936 - 1998] on September 11th 1985 as a medical college became a deemed to be university in the year 1994 and it became a University in December, 2006

In the year 1997, SRU started a partnership with Harvard university in Cambridge. Starting with student exchange the alliance has spearheaded curriculum reform, focused on health care quality and safety and leadership and faculty development.

Medical Centre

Sri Ramachandra Medical Center (SRMC) is a tertiary care multi-specialty university hospital. With over 1500 beds, 114 ICU beds, 25 operating rooms and a campus spread over 175 acres, SRMC is one of the largest private health care facility in South Asia.

The Sri Ramachandra University, now consisting of 9 Constituent Colleges with over 45 Departments offering about 85 courses in Health care and medical studies and research with more than 3500 students.
