Abstract:
This book is addressed to management practitioners and professionals as well as students. The work consists of 10 strategic management study-cases: Lladró, Freixenet, Banco Santander, Telefónica, Inditex-Zara, Mercadona, Prosegur, UNED and "The shadow of the wind" from Carlos Ruiz Zafón. All the cases are outstanding examples of business success and the companies presented have achieved a very important international dimension and/or an extraordinary and quick growth and development in the national market. According to the content presented, the book's aim is to provide the reader with a collection of business situations representing diverse actual and real problems in order to study, analyze and assess, and, finally to solve them providing working-teams solutions. The business problems presented in the book cover from organic growth and development to cultural adaptation in different markets and to institutional conflict and confrontation. Book's learning strategy is designed to train readers in the creation and making of valid solutions for complex problems presented over different circumstances and statements. The analysis of business cases has been considered an excellent methodology to place and locate companies, to study their general and specific environment and to analyze the strategic challenges of their development. All of these abilities are critical in the learning process of future managers and decision-makers. The cases presented in the book allow readers to apply practically strategic management knowledge, to develop analysis, synthesis and assessment of information skills, to practice critical though, to work in teams, to orient their work towards innovation and creativity, to make decisions and think about them and finally to review as well as to develop and consolidate strategic management theoretical learning. This path is offering professional-transversal skills and abilities in the know-how and handle and manage situations that are needed in nowadays companies and corporations providing a clear added-value to students and professionals profiles.
