Abstract:
Introduction. The article reveals the concept of environmental education in the framework of human potential development. The main content of the human potential in the study is the preservation and development of its individual spiritual, cultural and humanistic world, where environmental education plays a special role. The principles of human potential development in the field of environmental education are substantiated. This is stimulation of raising the level of ecological culture of the population, especially among young people; establishing effective interaction between regional authorities, large enterprises, public organizations, activists in the field of ecology; identification of the functions of human potential in the resource provision of the sphere of environmental education. The environmental and educational activities carried out both through general educational organizations and within the framework of additional education, as well as their interaction with other social institutions are analyzed. The main aspects of modern environmental education development and the key issues in this area are considered. Material and methods. The information base of the article was made up of official statistics, official documents and publications in the media. A secondary analysis of studies on the problem under research was carried out, and practices in the field of environmental education in a number of regions were generalized. Results and conclusions. The main actors of environmental education in the current conditions are identified. The research reveals that both public organizations and national parks and industrial enterprises and regional authorities participate in non-formal environmental education. Educational activities typically include themed classes, excursions and school camps. Environmental awareness activity consists in holding competitions, environmental festivals, forums, etc. The research shows possibilities of environmental education through the project activities of educational organizations in cooperation with cultural and leisure institutions, representatives of non-profit organizations, large industrial enterprises.
