Abstract

The Brazilian Symposium on Multimedia and the Web WebMedia is an annual symposium sponsored by the Brazilian Computer Society (SBC) and is the most important forum for researchers and professionals in the Multimedia, Hypermedia and Web areas in Brazil. The central feature of the symposium, since its inception, is its Technical Program. The symposium's technical program is composed of technical sessions with full papers, short papers, short courses, workshops (Thesis and Dissertation Workshop, Tools and Applications Workshop and Undergraduate Research Workshop), as well as keynote speakers invited talks.

WebMedia's 17th edition is held from October 3th to October 6st, 2011, in Florianópolis, capital of Santa Catarina - Brazil. The organization of WebMedia '11 is under the responsibility of the Federal University of Santa Catarina (UFSC).

WebMedia '11 proceedings include 33 full papers. These papers were selected from 134 full paper submissions, with acceptance rates of 25%. The Symposium's Program Committee worked very hard to select papers out of many submissions of excellent quality. We thank all the submitting authors for their research efforts and for their submissions and congratulate those who had their work accepted.

Finally, we thank the hosting university, UFSC, our sponsor, SBC, and our generous sponsors and supporters, CGI/NIC.br, CAPES, CNPq, FAPESC and FEESC. We also thank ACM SIGWEB and SIGMM for their in-cooperation support.
