Reviews

Brian D. Monahan

There has been tremendous growth in the number of Web sites produced over the past few years. Not surprisingly, many of them are poorly designed. They lack imagination and structure. Information is missing or is hard to find. This book helps designers avoid such problems. The book focuses especially on business Web sites. It does a careful analysis of the reasons why many sites fail. It provides a number of proven strategies that will help sites to succeed. Among the most impressive features of the book is its tone. It stresses that the owner of a business does understand that business. It helps him or her move that understanding to the site. This is not a book that covers the use of any specific software package for designing Web sites. However, those who are looking for a clear, theoretical explanation of the principles of effective Web design will not be disappointed.
