UWA Java tools: harnessing software metrics to support novice programmers

Abstract

Many attributes of program quality can be measured automatically. UWA Java Tools is a collection of automatic software measurement tools configured for novice Java programmers. Measurement tools are used in industry to increase productivity and improve software quality. Our research demonstrates how such tools can benefit teaching and learning in programming courses.
