A Hybrid Fuzzy-Intelligent System for Group Multi-Attribute Decision Making

International Journal of Fuzzy Systems Aims and scope Submit manuscript

Abstract

This paper aims to solve a multi-attribute decision making (MADM) problem under a group decision making and fuzzy environment. To do so, firstly a consensus model is proposed to increase consensus level within experts. Secondly, as the main contribution of this paper, it proposes a hybrid approach which employs both fuzzy rule-based system and preference ranking organization method for enrichment evaluations (PROMETHEE) to rank alternatives. One advantage of MADM techniques is to provide decision maker’s (DM) preferences and utilities. To do so, we model DM’s utilities using fuzzy logic and then implement it in PROMETHEE method. As a case-based problem, this study makes an investigation into supplier selection problem as a critical objective of purchasing departments and effective task toward successful logistic and supply chain management. Validity and robustness of the proposed approach is demonstrated with several numerical examples, sensitivity analysis and comparison with some other approaches.
