Abstract

This paper analyzes the affecting factors of marine industrial structure upgrading (MISU). On the basis of the analysis, the spatial correlation is tested of 11 coastal provinces or cities in China from 2001 to 2013. Then the spatial econometric model is further applied to study the effect of the factors from the respective of two samples, which have the different level of industrial structure. This paper indicates that the current MISU is significantly affected by that of the previous period in two samples, and the upgrading process is dynamic and continuous. The influence of scientific and technological level is negative and the effect of foreign direct investment is positive in two samples. There are large differences in effect of labor investment, capital investment, consumption level, opening degree and government support in two samples. Finally, some policy suggestions are put forward to promote MISU.
