Welcome to the special issue of the 41st Computer Graphics International Conference (CGI 2024). CGI is one of the oldest and most prestigious international conferences in the field of computer graphics. It is the official conference of the Computer Graphics Society (CGS), a longstanding international organization dedicated to the advancement of computer graphics. The Visual Computer serves as the official journal of CGS.

The CGI conference, held annually in various countries, has established a reputation as a premier event where researchers and practitioners share their achievements and explore the latest advancements in computer graphics. Following CGI 2023 in Shanghai, China, this year's conference will take place at Campus Biotech, University of Geneva, in Geneva, Switzerland, from July 1–5.

CGI 2024 is organized by MIRALab at the University of Geneva, with support from the Computer Graphics Society and additional publishers. The conference is a hybrid event, allowing participants to attend either in person or online.

In addition to the main conference, two workshops are held on Monday, July 1. The MIRALab workshop features presentations from former MIRALab PhD students, many of whom have become professors at renowned universities or CEOs of various companies. The second workshop, the Engage Workshop, focus on computational geometry and will also take place on the first day of the conference.

This special issue features a selection of the best papers from those submitted to CGI 2024 following the first call for papers. Out of 129 submissions, 40 papers were selected after a rigorous review process conducted by the CGI 2024 program committee and the associate editors of The Visual Computer.

We extend our deepest gratitude to the program committee members, associate editors, and external reviewers for their timely and high-quality reviews. We also thank all the authors for their contributions to CGI 2024 and this special issue. Finally, we are grateful to the organizing committee for their hard work in arranging such an important and successful conference.
