Abstract

Coupling of distributed computer resources connected by a high speed network to one virtual computer is the basic idea of a metacomputer. Access to the metacomputer should be provided by an intuitive graphical user interface (GUI), ideally WWW based. This paper presents a metacomputer architecture using a Java based GUI. The concept will be discussed with regard to security, communication, scalability, and the integration into existing frameworks.
