Abstract

Lack of I/O performance is becoming a limiting factor in many computing systems. The Stable Disk is a high performance fault-tolerant cached RAID subsystem which exploits write-cacheing. A memory-mapped stable memory is used as a fault-tolerant cache, the design of which incorporates VRAMs to support switch-mode checkpointing and to provide a fast, direct path to disk.
