Anaerobic digestion modelling — The role of H2

Abstract

A dynamic model of a continuous glucose-fed digester is presented, including hydrogen inhibition of acetogenesis and pH inhibition of methanogens. Unionised volatile fatty acids are not considered toxic. Hydrogen concentration could be a useful stability parameter.
