Abstract
Candidiasis is the generic term used to designate human infection caused by fungus of the Candida genus. Candida spp. are ubiquitous and reside commensally in humans. In the setting of decreased immunity and/or favorable local conditions, they may become pathogenic. Different manifestations of fungal infection vary from benign superficial mucosal and cutaneous disease to invasive disseminated forms, including intraocular involvement.
