Abstract

A new simulated environment of flexible manufacturing systems is proposed in this article. The simulated environment can help the engineers reduce their efforts and better deal with some frustrating situations in the beginning of research and development. A modeling tool, called scenario, is employed in this paper. The scenario is able to depict the actions between equipment and its controller. This article starts with scenario to model the operation sequences of the system’s equipment. In addition, this article demonstrates how a scenario is converted into a Petri net. To our knowledge, it is the first time that scenarios are used to model the operations of the equipment’s handshaking. Finally, two emulators are given for the simulated environment.
