Abstract

To establish transmission in the network only by communication of optical signals, we proposed a directional coupler with two cavities in the coupling region in two dimensional photonic crystals structure. In simulation of electromagnetic wave propagation around 4 GHz with band-limited input signal, amount of the transmission at the output port was compared. As a result, it was found that the selectivity of frequency components can be improved by changing the structure without changing the output level. Selectivity of output frequency by the proposed circuit is applicable for drop a desired channel by demultiplexing of wavelength division multiplexed (WDM) signal.
