Abstract
Robots play a significant role in modern life in a wide range of activities. Learning by utilizing robots is an innovative teaching approach through which a variety of disciplinary areas can be treated. The current work refers to the development of a robot, initially designed for children with autism spectrum disorders but was then utilized in various studies related to empathy development towards various aspects. This paper reports upon a study regarding environmental empathy. For handling the robot, a mobile application and an in-formation system were developed. This paper reflects on the perceptions of 12 teachers who used the robot within this context, on the functionalities and the user interface of the digital working environment. The reflections were positive and comments were made on mechanical aspects of the robot mainly, indicating that the mobile application and the IS are designed in an appropriate format so as to be as transparent as possible for the end user.
