Abstract
A system for recognizing handwritten layout image was developed. It is robust for many kinds of handwriting-deviations such as blur, disconnection or sticking out of lines. For our algorithm of figure search, the angle or magnification of figures causes no effect on the retrieval process, and the necessary time is proportional to the number of line segments. And figure description is easy and flexible. In addition, the processing speed is fast and accurate enough for practical use.
