The Mindray BC-2800 is a versatile and compact hematology analyzer. It is one of the best automatic compact units from Mindray. This one, in particular, is one of the latest addition in their “BC” line of 3-Diff sample analyzers. Let us now have a closer look at this device.
The first thing we will notice is that this unit is very portable. But despite its small size, it is fully automatic and cheap compared to other devices. The 3-part differential provides accurate measurements of white blood cells. It also has the latest software built into it for quick operation.
The machine weighs around 48 pounds and measures 32.2 cm x 43.7 cm x 39.7 cm (weight x height x thickness).

- It has a compact design and user-friendly interface.
- It has a sample volume of 13-20 μL (microliter).
- The devices feature two sample modes, i.e., whole blood and pre-diluted.
- We can store up to 10,000 sample data which includes graphics and histograms.
- It features six counting modes, including all parameters and WBC/HGB and RBC/PLT.

- The BC-2800 can analyze two types of blood samples, i.e., whole blood samples and pre-diluted blood samples.
- When analyzing the whole blood samples, it takes in 13 μL (microliter) of the sample. A diluent of 3 ml is added, and it gets diluted following a series of reactions before proceeding to the final analysis.
- If you want to analyze pre-diluted blood samples, you must first collect 20 μL of the capillary specimen. Next, you can dispense 1.6 ml of diluent from the device and pre-dilute the specimen. The operator will forward the sample to the analyzer, which will take in 0.7 ml of the given sample. Finally, it is sent for further dilution.
The compact design of the BC-2800 makes it practical for use in laboratories. But that does not mean it cannot be used for complicated calculations. It can be stored anywhere and moved around quickly as it takes minimum space. We can ignore the occasional maintenance and cleaning and focus on its reliability and flexibility.
