DEFINITELY! As I mentioned above, there is a great hostel culture in Cusco. It is also a big part of the Peru backpacking itinerary and I have not met anyone who skipped Cusco. It is kind of a default place to visit when you go to Peru. There are many things to do in Cusco as this is the starting point for visiting most of the tourist attractions in Peru. I usually recommend people to stay at least 10 days to be able to do all the activities.
