Maybe you have tried flash cards or having them practice timed tests everyday but they still aren’t getting it…  Well here’s my secret to getting my 2nd grade students to solve any math fact… I teach counting strategies! ✨  Students use the number sequence to help them solve math facts.  For the example in the video, 6+3, students could count out 6 fingers and count out 3 fingers and then count all the fingers that are up. But this takes a while. And if they know the number sequence, there is a much faster way.  The counting on strategy!
