The assembly (19) to trim a strand of tobacco (50), especially in a cigarette production machine, has a mechanism with a pair of trimming disks (60.1,60.2) to shape a trimmed tobacco strand, and a unit (65) to remove surplus tobacco.. The strand trimming components form a trimmed tobacco strand (55) with alternating trimmed (56) and untrimmed (57) zones.

Die Erfindung betrifft eine Einrichtung (19) zum Trimmen eines Tabakstrangs (50), insbesondere in einer Zigarettenstrangmaschine, mit einem Strangbildungsmittel (60.1, 60.2; 65) zur Bildung eines getrimmten Tabakstrangs. Die Einrichtung (19) wird dadurch weitergebildet, daß das Strangbildungsmittel (60.1, 60.2; 65) zur Bildung eines getrimmten Tabakstrangs (55) mit alternierend angeordneten getrimmten (56) und nicht-getrimmten Bereichen (57) ausgebildet ist. Ferner betrifft die Erfindung eine Verwendung einer Einrichtung sowie eine Maschine der tabakverarbeitenden Industrie, insbesondere Zigarettenstrangmaschine. <IMAGE>
