A composition for rendering polyolefin fibres, filaments or nonwovens permanently hydrophilic comprises: (A) 15-75 parts by weight at least one nonionic surfactant; and (B) 25-85 parts by weight of a component comprising at least one quat. ammonium (sic) compound of formula (I) and/or at least one cationically modified polydimethylsiloxane of formula (IIa) or (IIb): ÄR<1>-C(O)-X-(CH2)n-N(R<2>)(R<3>)-(CH2)m-X-C(O)-R<1>Ü<+> Y<-> (I) R<4>-Si(CH3)2-O-ÄSi(CH3)2-O-ÜrSi(CH3)2-R<4> (IIa) CH3-Si(CH3)2-O-ÄSi(CH3)2-O-Ür-ÄSi(CH3)(R<4>)-O-ÜsS i(CH3)2-CH3 (IIb) R<1> = 1-18C alkyl or 2-18C alkenyl; R<2>, R<3> = 1-18C alkyl, hydroxyethyl or polyglycol; X = O, NH, N-CH3 or (OC2H4)z-; z = 1-10; Y = CH3OSO3<->, C2H5OSO3<->, CH3COO<->, Cl<->, phosphate or lactate; m, n = 1-6; r, s = 1-50; R<4> = group of formula: (CH2)q-O-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-NR<5+.> Y<-> or (CH2)q-O-CH2-CH(OH)-CH2-N<+)<R<5>)2-Z Z = CH2COO<-> or CH2-CH2-CH2-NH-CO-R<6>.Y<->; R<5> = methyl or C2H4OH; R<6> = optionally unsaturated 4-22C alkyl; and q = 3-18. Also claimed are: (i) the use of the composition for the above permanent hydrophilic treatment, (ii) polyolefin fibres or filaments made hydrophilic using this composition and (iii) nonwovens comprising these hydrophilic fibres or filaments.
Abstract (de)
Vorgeschlagen wird eine verbesserte wäßrige Zusammensetzung für die Permanenthydrophilierung von Polyolefinfasern und -filamenten und daraus hergestellten Nonwovens, die 15 - 75 Gew.-Teile mindestens eines nichtionischen Tensids sowie 25 - 85 Gew.-Teile einer Komponente, bestehend aus mindestens einer quartären Ammoniumverbindung und/oder mindestens einem kationisch modifizierten Polydimethylsiloxan, enthält und zusätzlich gegebenenfalls mindestens ein Kohäsionsmittel, Gleitmittel, Korrosionsschutzmittel und/oder einen Emulgator enthalten kann. Die damit ausgerüsteten Fasern zeigen eine gute Permanenthydrophilie bei verbesserter Kohäsion und verbesserten antistatischen Eigenschaften, was höhere Produktions- und Verarbeitungsgeschwindigkeiten ermöglicht.
