Are you ready to paint a room in your home, but have no idea where to start when it comes to choosing a color? Boy, do I feel you there. Why are there so many options for the color blue-grey paint?
And doesn’t going to the hardware store to look at all of the little paint swatches feel overwhelming? Like, how do all of the blue-grey paint colors look the same and different all at the same time?
Don’t worry though, I’ve got you covered! I know exactly what it’s like to be ready to paint a room and then end up just choosing a color at random only to hate it once the entire room is painted. Because let’s be honest, who really wants to buy samples and swatch your walls to see what looks best?

By the way, I totally recommend buying the samples and swatching. It really does save a headache in the end.

The 10 Best Blue Grey Paint Colors
One last note before we dive in, I looked at all paint brands while doing this research. The following list only features blue-grey paint colors from Benjamin Moore & Sherwin Williams and that is only because I truly loved their colors most for this color tone. I am not being paid by either brand, and I personally use a lot of Behr paint in my own home.
Benjamin Moore Van Courtland Blue
A decorative Old World blue that works equally well in more contemporary spaces, this timeless shade effortlessly spans a range of styles and sensibilities.
Benjamin Moore
Van Courtland Blue from Benjamin Moore reminds me of a Disney princess. This is the color that a modern Cinderella would have in her kitchen. I imagine her walking into a Benjamin Moore store with a swatch of her infamous blue dress as inspiration. To be honest, Benjamin Moore missed the mark by not calling this Cinderella blue!
I love how Shae from Shae Design Studios painted these cabinets Van Courtland Blue and painted the baseboards and crown molding the same color to create a fully cohesive look. (I could definitely see Cinderella in this kitchen!)
But this isn’t only for kitchens. Paint any room in your house Van Courtland Blue and I am sure that you will love it!

Benjamin Moore Santorini Blue

These timeless, elegant, Classic Colors guarantee beautiful, usable color all the time, every time. A collection of 1,680 inspired hues that consumers and professionals have enjoyed for years, the colors in this palette are as timeless as they are forward.

Let’s be honest here, if you use the words Santorini and blue in a sentence, I’m all in. Whether it’s the blue of the ocean or the infamous blue rooftops, give it to me!
Santorini Blue from Benjamin more is more of a water blue that you imagine swimming in while enjoying a nice cold Grecian cocktail. So obviously you are going to want to paint a room in your house this color just for the day-dreaming aspect!
Also, I know we’re only two paint colors in, but I am seeing a definite trend in blue kitchen cabinets and it’s making me rethink the white cabinets in my kitchen!

Sherwin Williams Daphne
I imagine Daphne by Sherwin Williams is a top paint color in the New England area. It just has that je ne sais quoi that lets you know that it is high brow, but not in a snobby way. More in the way of I’ve summered with the Kennedys but I don’t need to let you know because I already know that you know.
I love how this blue-grey paint color was styled in a bathroom with wallpaper. Daphne is definitely a color that is neutral enough to use anywhere without being too offensive to the eye. Yes, I do believe colors can be offensive!
Embrace your inner “not-snob” and paint something in your home this color. And then send me proof, because I need to see!

Manor Blue by Benjamin Moore
A hint of violet distinguishes this elegant mid-tone blue-gray. Muted and well-mannered, it adds a touch of sophistication to any setting.
Benjamin Moore
Manor Blue by Benjamin Moore reminds me of a very chic baby’s room. Well, obviously the parents would be the chic ones since it’s just a baby. But I digress.
Of all the blue-grey paint colors on this list, this one reminds me most of a clear blue sky. Like, Bob Ross would definitely paint some happy little trees in front of this color sky.
Paint any room in your home this color and I hope you think of Bob Ross.

Sherwin Williams Bracing Blue
I had two thoughts when I saw how Bracing Blue by Sherwin Williams was styled in the pictures above. I’ll break it down for you.
For the bedroom photo, my first thought was that this is what a teenager’s room looks like in California. Why California? I have no idea. But that’s where my head went. A teenage boy lives here and there’s probably an ocean outside his window and a sweaty gym bag in the corner.
For the painted kitchen cabinet photo, my first thought was the European countryside. I couldn’t quite pinpoint an exact country, but I am thinking the UK or France. Lots of bread is being baked in this kitchen and lots of good times are being had with family and friends!
If those two scenarios don’t get you to paint a room in your house this blue-grey paint color, then I don’t know what else you want from me!

Benjamin Moore Bachelor Blue
A deeper, muted blue-gray, this rich, elegant shade feels masculine, but can work equally well in a feminine space.
Benjamin Moore
Benjamin Moore hit the nail on the head when they named this paint color Bachelor Blue. When I saw it, I immediately thought of my dad who is in fact a bachelor.
In my head, I imagined painting his bedroom this color with some good neutral accents and wood furniture. Of course, I would add some fun decor to make sure we don’t get too monotone. He doesn’t want to be a bachelor forever after all!
But Benjamin Moore doesn’t want this to just be a “man’s” color, which I agree with! I love how Bria Hammel Interiors used this color in a bathroom. The modern touches really make this timeless blue-grey paint color impeccable.
*I tried to find another good example of Bachelor Blue on a wall but didn’t have any luck. So I wanted to say that paint can look different depending on the lighting. The color in the bathroom pictured looks much darker than the sample.

Do you know your home’s color story?
The secret that interior designers know, but maybe you don’t! Figuring out your home’s color story will help you decorate like a pro.
Sherwin Williams Granite Peak
We have our first exterior paint job! And doesn’t this color look fabulous on this house? Not to say the other colors couldn’t, but this one is exceptional.
So if you are looking specifically for a blue-grey paint color for the exterior of your home, look no further. You’re welcome.
But I also love it in this dressing room designed by Dwell by Cheryl. Painting the ceilings the same color really makes you feel like you are in a well-designed room. I don’t know why it is, but I think fun ceilings are a sign that you know what design is. And that you love to use the full potential of a room.

Sherwin Williams Smoky Blue
Smoky Blue by Sherwin Williams is the perfect color to complement your modern vintage style. It has that boho vibe that everyone loves at the moment, or if you’re like me you love it all of the time! #hippieatheart
I love how Anita Yokota painted the board and batten in this bathroom she designed this blue-grey paint color. It tones down the orange elements in the room while accentuating the plants and decor.
Don’t worry, if you’re not a hippie and don’t love the boho trend, I know that this color will look amazing with any decor style!

Sherwin Williams Waterloo
This color! Honestly, if you’re looking for a dark, but not too dark, blue for a room in your house then this is it. It is such a modern blue that is not too bold but still makes a statement.
Everything about Waterloo by Sherwin Williams screams intention. This is an intentional blue that has been well thought out and will add a sense of unity to any room in your home!
Emily Henderson used this blue-grey paint color in two rooms that she designed and they’re both exquisite. I honestly am thinking of starting a love affair with this color. I mean, can you blame me?

Benjamin Moore Hale Navy
A timeless classic, this deeply saturated shade of navy blue evokes rich maritime traditions and storied exploits at sea.
Benjamin Mooore
I wonder Hale Navy by Benjamin Moore was named because it feels very Ivy League. It truly does look like a very elite navy blue. Almost reminding you of a color Ralph Lauren would use to design a very Americana piece.
I’m currently watching Very Ralph on HBO, so maybe that is why I feel nostalgic for an “American blue”.
But I love how this is a true navy blue without any pomp and circumstance. Sometimes you just need a good ole boy blue to get the job done. And why wouldn’t you want an Ivy League good ole boy?

What is the Difference Between Benjamin Moore & Sherwin Williams Paints
In a short answer, not much.
These are both great paint brands and the average person wouldn’t be able to tell the difference once the paint is on the wall, or wherever you’re painting. Maybe a professional would, but how many professional painters are you inviting over? And if you invited them, hopefully they keep their paint comments to themselves.
Another difference worth noting is that Benjamin Moore stores are locally owned and Sherwin Williams stores are part of a corporation, if that kind of thing matters to you.
Here is a pretty thorough breakdown of the difference between Benjamin Moore & Sherwin Williams if you really want the details.
