The start of the path up to Darkcloud Pinnacle was at 31, 37.Head to the pinnacle that the Fire is at 38, 35.
Comment by Ormriss
Just a note if you do this in a group. Each party member has to light the fire. I did this with one other person and we ended up having to fight Arikara twice, as we both had to light the fire to get the quest completed (and lighting the fire spawns Arikara). You might be able to have other party members light the fire while Arikara is already spawned, thus avoiding extra battles.Comment by 13910
Like Tankme says, he is up at 38,35.On his little platform there are 4 Tauren spawns. He's pretty easy to kill as a 29

WARNING: Do not destroy the item you use to summon Arikada. It's part of the turn-in, even though it doesnt say.Comment by 16471
Coord above were dead on, solo'd this as a 30 Shaman, WF proc'd twice tho :OComment by EPER
Question: What quest do you have to do in order to obtain this one? I am the required level, but Magatha isn't offering any quest at all.Comment by 31182
The prerequisite for this quest is The Alien Egg:https://www.wowhead.com/classic/quest=4821

just solo'd this quest as a level 30 troll roguearikara is a lvl 28 elite and is pretty tough. i had to use all my rogue tricks to take him down (evasion, poisons, slice and dice, etc.)
i had to use one healing potion throughout the entire battle. make sure you clear all of the grimtotom guards in the area first so your fight isnt rudely interupted.
hit hard and hit fast and you should have no problem

The fire is at 38,35Comment by Thottbot
37,3528 elite
not difficult for lvl 30 mage.
you can doo eet!

Whitereach Post is at 21, 32. For those w/o coord mods, go west when the road makes a T after riding the great lift down. The post will be down a ways on the left.Comment by Thottbot
sigh. i'm a level 29 warlock, and figured i'd try it alone just for the sake of.. whatever. i get up there, kill all the spawns on that island, spawn Arikara, and kill her! i was so amazed that i did it alone, and as soon as she dies.. poof. her corpse is gone and i can't loot it. :(Comment by Thottbot
Same with me. But the second time try to1. Right click on the Fire, make it burn;
2. Then kill Arikara
3. Report the quest @ 21,32
Good luck :o)
Comment by Thottbot
The fire is made over on one of the plateaus located at the Darkcloud Pinnacle. Just look for a stack of wood ready for burning.Comment by Thottbot
1.10.1 came out today and i tryed this quest with a buddy. We reached the spot and the elite kept fading in and out, with a burst of smoke each time.
So we ran up to it and killed it, and it dropped the quest item. But to complete the quest we also use the stuff on the flame.
well the second we killed it it would respawn. literally the second. we must have killed it over and over about 5 times, but it kept respawning the second after.
As for the fire, it was un clickable. Except for about 1 millisecond each minute or so, there was no gear. When it did flash i would try to click it, but failed each time.
So yeah, this quest was totally bugged for me and my friend. GJ 1.10.1
Comment by Thottbot
k i thought it was just me, it's bugged for me too and its a pissoff! but wonder when they'll fix thisComment by Thottbot
I'm very confused. When i did the quest he was already summoned and he kept fading in and out. I killed him got the scales but there was no fire to light to summon him because he was already there? what happenedComment by Thottbot
ArikaraIncendia Powder: 0/1
Arikara Serpent Skin: 0/1
- ramp /31,36 /
- open your bag right click to the an push right sacred fire of life.
- Arikara Serpent Skin: 0/1 /37,35 / monsters
- end / 21,32 / whitereach post in thousand needles
Comment by Thottbot
I have killed Arikara no problem but i cannot click on bonfire. There is still a glich with it and i have reported it to Blizzard and with any luck it should be fixed soon.Comment by Thottbot
Quest still buggy. Fire always burning :/Comment by Thottbot
Wish I had read all the way to the end of these posts now. The flippin thing's still alight. :)Comment by Thottbot
Yes, I did it... I needed help from a 52 hunter but i was able to do it with the hunter grabing all the agro, including Arikara, while i got ready to use the Incedia Powder... We had to time it perfectly but as soon as he killed Arikara i used the ashes and well... Completed it!(Have to do within that 5 second time frame when Arikara is dead - right b4 the respawn)
Comment by Thottbot
So me as a lvl 27 shauman and two other lvl 29s take this one on... we kept killing the thing over and over... no problem there... problem was the respawn at death for the serpent and the grunt reinforcements... I literally tried doing this over 20 times before I figured there was no way... When you do get the fire to start it says invalid target at the end and you have to have your buddies to distract the serpent while you do it... No way to complete this quest right now...later

As of this morning, May 31, 2006. I did the quest with no problems. Don't know if they fixed this in the last patch or just lucky. But lit the fire, killed the snake (not to hard, did it as lvl 29)Comment by Thottbot
confirmed 38,35...its on top of the mountain peaks.. at the peak with all the wood to create a fire.
solo-ed as 31shamman
Comment by Thottbot
did this on a 28 priest, had no problemsused 2-3 flash heals, but the fight wasnt difficult
Comment by Thottbot
My level 29 priest was having a hard time killing arikara...she died when Arikara becomes enraged.I do not think a priest can solo this...but if there is a way for me (as a priest)to solo, please tell me how. I died two times with this quest.
I had all buffs ( excluding Warchief Blessing and rallying cry of the dragon slayer and the Wickerman Ashes ) on me...and the 25% stamina increase from halloween apples
Comment by Thottbot
Okay, so I did this quest about 30 seconds ago. Quest site is 38,35 and the passageway is around 31,36. I did this as a 27 Warlock with no difficulties what so ever. Kill the Taurens, light the fire, spawn is, in fact, elite. Kill the elite, loot the serpent skin and you're done.Coords are mods for the poster who asked. Go to www.curse-gaming.com for loads of mods or search Google.

Came here cause I thought I was doing something wrong Arikana (however you spell it) is spawned allready and the flame is lit, and once you kill her the first time, she just keeps respawning.Comment by Allakhazam

The start of the path up to Darkcloud Pinnacle was at 31,37 (11/10/06)Comment by Allakhazam
soloed as 27 shadow priest. It was hard.Comment by Allakhazam
Really, really easy quest. I did it with a Level 28/29 Warlock, but this could be done by almost any range of level as long as you have the Fear spell (or any variation of it that another class may have).Get rid of all the mobs on the way there, and kill all the ones on the needle with the campfire. Regen your HP/Mana if needed, and throw the Incendia Powder on the fire. Back up a bit, and wait a few seconds while Arikara summons. When she does, send your pet into her and start casting Fear. When she runs, start dotting her up (I do Curse of Agony, Corruption, and Immolation), then cast fear on her again. Feel free to cast a Shadow Bolt or something of the like on her. Then fear her again. Replace any DOT spells that wore off. Fear again. And pretty much repeat that process until she's dead.
She didn't touch me once.

i did this quest with lvl 29 hunter and lvl 26 petand just like grotbags said
Fire is at 38,35.
The start of the trail up is 31,36.
if you dont have coords- the trail up is on your way from freewind post to the great lift you will see a big blue totem to the right and the trail it to the left of the totem , and once you get up to the needles you have to go to the fourth needle, kill everything, summon it, kill it.. easy !
Comment by Allakhazam
I've soloed it at lvl 27 Blood Elf WarlockComment by Allakhazam
I just tried this one 5/1/06 and have the respawn problem. Killed her 5 times and could not get to pu the powder on the fire. I have the scale but cant get to the fire to finish. Everytime I go to the cords, Arikana is already there.32 Shadow Priest
Comment by Allakhazam
Aside from using the incendia powder for the quest, why would anyone want the (42)incendia powder reward? Is it used for anything or sell good?
Comment by Allakhazam
at 38,35 is the Sacred fire.On the pinnacle just north of the Eastern most point of the lake in Screeching Canyon.
Comment by Allakhazam
solo'd this as a level 30 druid. all i did was cast a rejuv immediately after lighting the fire, switch to bear, and bash/rejuv mid-way to be sure i didn't die due to some freak accident.either kill the pat that walks accross the bridge or pull aikara to the opposite end to avoid aggro.
oh, and you can jump off the bridge and in to the lake for a quick exit.
Comment by Allakhazam
I liked this set of quests.I had to do the last event twice. One of my party members triggered the spawn the first time I faced the serpent (which even tho is labeled 'elite' seemed only slightly beefier than normal for its level). We all were able to loot the quest item from its corpse. But when I went to do the turn in, my incendia powder was greyed-out. I couldn't get the reward until I went back and summoned the serpent myself.
Comment by Allakhazam
Solo'd it with a level 29 rogue - wasn't even close to die - and with no good equipment - Its a bad level 29 elite ..!Comment by Allakhazam
I tried this today with my L32 Troll ShammyInstead of the powder summoning Arikara, she's already there, always. Therefore, you can't use the powder to summon her and complete the quest, since the Fire of Life isn't clickable while she's there. Killed her many times, then tried to use the powder on the fire (which is right in front of her), but no go. Many GM's have been informed of the bug, but still not fixed. I'm gonna put in another one today, 4.21.6.
This WTF moment has been brought to you by: Blizzard.

If doing this in a party where multiple party members have the quest, all members have to light the flame individually. I had to go back and light it again a week later and as soon as I lit the fire, before Arikara appeared, I got the quest-complete indication.Comment by Allakhazam
Just solo'ed this bad boy easy as a lvl 32 hunter.Comment by Allakhazam
Quest was easy. And yes you get the incendia powder from Magatha in TB.I did it solo, at lvl 31. Only suggestions I have are kill the geomancers and what not around the fire pit first, then quickly spawn Arikara with the powder and kill her. I died twice when I almost killed Arikara, then the damn geomancers and others respawned in the middle of my fight and gang bang'd me.
There should be someplace that says where Whitereach Post is at
Comment by Allakhazam
Solo:ed as a lvl29 warlock , Use void to tank (and to sacrifice) , nuke him and keep him feared and when he has like 15% its best to sacrifice if you havent got full hp-meter since he goes into rageComment by Allakhazam
the location 4 Whitereach Post is 21,32.Comment by Allakhazam
Interestingly, my friend and I just went there today... he has been trying to gdo the quest for a while, but when I got close to it, it said I had already lit the fire, so I somehow completed it, but he didn't... Weird stuff... Thumbs up for Blizzard! So confused...

I did this Quest as a :evel 28 Warlock with the help of my Voidwalker and I must admit it was quite easy despite the fact it is a group quest. I was rewarded with 2300 XP and a very nice Stingshot WandComment by Allakhazam
soloed this quest...lvl 30 rouge.
one suggestion,
if your health gets low,
use a fully charged kidney shot.
it helps

solo'ed as lvl 26 hunter barely hurt my pet or me.Comment by Allakhazam
Same thing happened to me squirtle, was pretty cut cos I could have done it myself, except out of curtosy I offered to group with a lower level.I chose the Brute Hammer, as it is worth the most at vendors. Nothing of use for a Shaman like me :(

powder is no longer a reward, i got him down to ~ 10% with a 27 druid(feral), got a few heavy armor patches and won, close fight thoComment by Allakhazam

I talked with a GM last night and was basically told to just watch the WOW homepage and we will be notified when it is fixed. I also expressed the frustration of doing this many times to no avail. I asked if we could get credit for the quest if they saw we had the scaled and was told no. We will have to run the instance again to complete it.:(Comment by Allakhazam
I tried 2 do this Q today and same thing happened 2 me as to you.i sent a ticket but no response.

Just solo'd the whole thing, level 27 warlock. It wasn't too hard, just took careful pulling. I never had a problem summoning it either.Comment by Allakhazam
I was able to Kill Arikara, but the flame was already lit, and Arikara was already summoned. And continues to respawn over and over. I have sent a ticket to gm's, yet with no response..Comment by Allakhazam
still unable to throw powder on the fire. maybe they'll fix it on tuesday. until then, screw you blizzard.Comment by Allakhazam
Yeah, I ran into the respawning Arikara problem too - Arikara by itself is doable, but when you kill all the Grimtotems on the needle, then Arikara, then get killed by Arikara again when it respawns in half a second before you can recover, it gets kind of annoying. :/ All I need to do now is throw the powder into the unusable fire.Comment by Allakhazam
Where is the exact location of the Grimtotem Compound?Sorry if already explained but i am a bit confused :(

solo'ed this as a lvl29 hunter. let the pet do all the work while mending it as the health ran low. took a while but in the end killed it with no real threat to my char.Comment by dwm273
Tried to solo as a Warrior at lvl29. Was unable to do it so I had to skip this quest.Comment by GhostGhost
Soloed fairly easy as a 31 rogue. If you put cripping on and then gouge and use first aid anti venoms u can get a fair few bandage ticks off before she gets to you.
You can also gouge her and run away shoot run shoot gouge again and repeat.
Quite a simple kill if done correctly. Good luck!

why is every elite quest page filled with these "Soloed at "x" level" Man stfu please, just share the hp and level.Comment by Arth0rian
Soloed it as lvl 25 feral during phase 1 of SOD.Mob has 3.6k health, doesn't hit hard.

AFTER YOU KILL AND LOOT ARIKARA, JUMP OFF THE PEAK INTO THE DARK LAKE BELOW AND YOU WON'T HAVE TO FIGHT YOUR WAY OUT.Arikara
Slay Arikara. Bring her remains and the Incendia powder to Motega Firemane in Whitereach Post as proof of your deed.Incendia Powder (Provided) (1)
Arikara Serpent Skin (1)
| Light the Sacred Fire of Life (1) |
Description
Take this refined and purified Incendia powder to Thousand Needles and toss it on the sacred fire of life. It is located in the Darkcloud Pinnacle on an isolated needle where they bury their dead. The enchantment that I have weaved into the Incendia powder will summon Arikara to you, <name>.
I fear she may be stalking Cairne Bloodhoof; too much Tauren lore has changed, and I fear this has angered Arikara. Move quickly before all is lost, <class>!
