|description={{en|1=The photograph shows a site near the shore in Narsaq, Greenland in the autumn of 2018. This is an archaeological site where Norse artifacts were discovered in 1953, including the Narsaq stick with a Viking Age runic inscription. Subsequent excavations revealed the remains of a farm from the beginning of the Norse settlement in Greenland. A sign visible in the photograph gives information on the archaeological discoveries. It notes: "To provide an impression of the hall now completely removed by the archaeological excavation turfs have been set on top of the original walls." Some further information on the context of the photograph can be attained from a blog post by Melissa Cherry Villumsen, the photographer: [http://iliveasidream.com/index.php/2018/12/22/in-the-footsteps-of-the-norse-in-and-around-narsaq/ In the Footsteps of the Norse In and Around Narsaq ]}} |
