When I was attempting to upload 5 files at once, all having different sources and license information, after providing their descriptions, there are two types of error messages which I get, and the upload does not continue (with Internet Explorer 9):

Uploaded two photos, upload wizard is "uploading" and taking forever to do so. Fault... my end or yours??

Alternatively, it'd at least be useful to be able to "remove this file" from the upload set. Also, the onfocus event that selects the entire text of the "To use the file in a wiki, copy this text into a page:" field is really irritating. I only wanted to select the filename — perhaps it'd be useful to add the filename in a form where it's not a hyperlink, for ease of copy/paste? — OwenBlacker | Discussion 11:27, 31 August 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Same problem. When I upload multiple photos, all of which go in the same categories, enter the categories for the first photo, then use the "Copy information to uploads below" tool, the categories all show up nicely in the later photos. However, when I click "Next", I get a pop-up box: "Warning: It is recommended that you fill in a category for your uploads. Do you want to continue without filling all the fields?". The problem you are reporting sounds like a potential issue in the code of the MediaWiki software or the server configuration. If the problem is reproducible, it would be nice if somebody who has this issue could send the software bug to the 'Bugzilla' bug tracker by following the instructions How to report a bug, in this case under the product 'MediaWiki Extensions' and the component 'UploadWizard' (You can use this direct link if you have a Bugzilla account). This is to make developers of the software aware of the issue. If you have done so, please paste the number of the bug report (or the link) here, so others can also inform themselves about the bug's status. Hi

I've given two similar photos the same title "Tawny Frogmouth (Podargus strigoides)". However, given this has been used as the file name - only one is appearing. I can't re-upload the second file as uploader is saying the file already exists.

Sorry - I figured the fact that I uploaded both files at once, and that original uploaded files had different names, meant they would be differentiated.

I have tried so many times to attach this relevant portrait to the Wikipedia page. It is a frustrating experience and I have now been waiting 15 minutes for a small file to upload. A spinning circle and a message saying 'uploading' is a frustrating sight! I have tried to complete every hurdle that Wikipedia has put in front of me but this is not easy! That is probably a caching issue that takes a few days to clear sometime. I found that if you create an oddball thumb then it can fix it immediately most times.

What are clear steps to reproduce? It's unclear to me which exact file size is misbehaving, and with which version of the file to compare it with. --AKlapper (WMF) (talk) 14:35, 15 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

It usually happens when you upload a version with a different ratio. Wider or taller. The system clears itself after a few days but purging, refreshing etc can as well. Someone came up with odd thumbs like 219px, 141px, 199px, etc to fix it as well.--Canoe1967 (talk) 20:29, 16 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Upload fails with three files (2 png, 1 jpg), three other pairs where ok.

It appears that the upload wizard is automatically adding a blank coordinate location template to the uploaded files. More correctly, it leaves a location template with coordinates of 0,0. This is causing problems because it is adding huge numbers of files with invalid coordinates or double coordinates. Please see Category:Pages with malformed coordinate tags. Hi, I selected "Own work - Creative Commons CC0 Waiver (release all rights, like public domain: legal code)" in the Upload Wizard preferences. However, when uploading a file, the licence still remains the standard licence. Any ideas? Regards, Christoph Braun (talk) 10:46, 28 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

The upload wizard has limited choices. I sometimes pick the closest license and then change it after upload to a better match. Category:CC license tags has most of our CC licenses if you wish to select a better one.--Canoe1967 (talk) 17:41, 29 July 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I tried to download 19 pictures with this wizard today (some minutes ago), and even though I have made the file sizes much smaller (just 50-150 kB/ photo) than the original raw photo the web page seems to jam, does not give any response received in 15 minutes. I test the upload tool with campaign (wlm-fr in my test case)

When I add the identifiant to the first image and I click on "copy other informations", I'm waiting that the identifier is applied on all photos.

I've raised this bug the last year and it is not solved yet.

Uploading a copy of a page in a Minutes book, dated 1833 so old enough to be out of date related copyright restrictions, I tried to find a suitable description in the "Not my own work" option. First try, I wrote my own text stating the age of the document. Failed. The system demands standardised tags. Second try, I used the PD-old tag. Failed. The system demanded an additional tag to cover USA. So I reverted to the My Own Work option since the copy was a photo I had taken of the relevant page. This type of image is ambiguous for copyright anyway. In this case, I have legitimate access to the book as an office holder in the relevant organisation. And sample pages have been published in other contexts. Would it help to have an additional category to cover copies an uploader has created of manuscripts, photographs, etc., dating from before the year 1900? Mijn vraag is misschien hier niet op zijn plaats, wilt u in dat geval mijn vraag doorverwijzen?  Ik zou een link op deze pagina naar de Nederlandse upload wizards voor WLM 2013 van gemeente-, rijks- en provinciale monumenten, erg op prijs stellen. Bug: identical names messes things up

When using two time the identical name for two files in the Upload wizard, it tries to upload both to that name. The first is uploaded as broken old version, the second as new version. The hash is from the old one preventing to upload it again.

Bonjour,
Lorsque j'importe une photo, le téléchargement se fait correctement, mais ensuite plus rien.
Impossible de passer à l'étape suivante (celle des droits accordés).
La seule possibilité que j'ai, c'est d'importer d'autres fichiers, rien de plus.
Bug ou je rate qqchose ?

My image uploads, but then nothing happens.  It doesn't move to the next step and there is no button or link for me to click to move me to the next step.  I can remove images or add more but nothing else.  I realize this may be a compatibility problem with my browser (IE 8) but my poor old computer can't user a higher verson and doesn't have room for a second browser. Hochlade Wizard für den Wettbewerb funktioniert nicht!

Wenn ich mit diesem Wizard eine Datei hochladen möchte, dann kann ich zwar im ersten Schritt eine Datei auswählen und einfügen (auch mehrere), dann geht aber gar nichts mehr, das heisst die weiteren Schritte Lizenz auswählen usw. sind blockiert und das Ganze funktioniert gar nicht. Gibt es eine andere möglichkeit (z.B. mit normal hochgeladenen Bildern am Wettbewerb teilzunehmen?) - so ist das ziemlich Kacke ... The Mediawiki software's ability to correctly detect the file type is really beside the point. Wikimedia Commons wouldn't accept Microsoft Word files even if bugzilla:38432 were fixed. There are several reasons for this:
Microsoft Word files typically consist primarily of text. Wikimedia Commons is a media repository. We primarily host media files: images, video and audio. See Commons:Project scope/Summary.
Microsoft Word uses a non-standard, proprietary legacy file format. Commons only hosts free content in free file formats. See Commons:File types.

та как ничего не получается - перехожу по ссылке: 
"Вернуться к старой форме" -> "полностью моя собственная работа" (а фотографии загруженные по ней участвуют ли в конкурсе?) и там получается загружать фотографии (я пока только одну загрузил по ссылке "Вернуться к старой форме"-> "полностью моя собственная работа"),

Sarebbe molto utile un campo per selezionare solo il nome del file, senza il codice di formattazione. Questo serve per tutte le tabelle/infobox dove va indicato solo il nome.

Can you provide better support for experienced users

Would it be possible to provide an option to switch to a wiki-markup based editor for descriptions and licence information (like the old upload form), but with the wizard which supports multiple uploads. If I'm uploading multiple files I want to write the information once, copy it to each file and then make changes relevant to each file. What I don't want to have to do is navigate a clunky, patronising, noob-oriented wizard page, clicking in multiple boxes and scroll through to find what needs to be changed. Right now I'm still using the old wizard, but it seems quite ironic that power users are forced to use the inferior, one-file-at-a-time interface. --W. D. Copy presets and after upload choices

After gaining some experience with the wizard file uploads, please consider the following changes.
Copy fields feature:
1. Please consider adding some clarification alongside the copy checkboxes. Currently, the pre checked options is pre-guessing what a user wants. This misguides experienced users and confuses those unfamiliar with some of the checked options. 
1a. Either pre-check only the two most important options, these being the image date and the category. Date relates to copyright issues and category reminds users to apply them.
1b. Leave all options unchecked.
Screen display after successful uploading:
2. Upload process scrolls to the top on completion while the selection buttons are at the bottom of the screen. When uploading 25-50 images, this is very awkward.
2a. Display a duplicate set of buttons at the top of the page as well.
2b. Direct focus to the buttons at the bottom of the screen.
Continue options after successful upload:
3. Guiding the user to the "Wiki home page" after completion of the upload process is a dead end.
3a. Please change the "go to wiki home page" button and instead, guide the user the first, or the last specified category. At least, this would lead users to some of their uploaded work.
3b. If no category is selected, this should guide the uploader to the "images missing categories" page of the day. This would further enforce users to apply categories.
