Der St.-Petri-Dom is a protected cultural monument in the Free Hanseatic City of Bremen with the number 0314 registered with the State Office for Monument Preservation. → Datenbankeintrag
English: The St. Peter's Cathedral in Bremen, Germany, is the (fomrer) cathedral of the medieval Roman Catholic archdiocese of Bremen. After predescessors that leaved only little archeological traces, in the 11th century a large basilica was built, whose central nave had almost the extent of the actual one, and structures of whitch are visible today. In 1532, it was closed by the cathedral chapter as last effort to prevent the entering of the Reformation. Since 1547, with a second interruption from 1561 to 1638, it serves as a Lutheran place of worship. While the free city of Bremen was ruled according to Reformed (Calvinist) denomination, the Cathedral formed a lutheran exclave until 1802. Though the Lutheran congregation grew to become the largest of all congegrations in Bremen, the cathedral didn'n become a parish before 1810. In 1873 Calvinist and Lutheran congregations in Bremen formed the common umbrella Bremian Evangelical Church.
