The ecological transition of the extreme energy events experiment / Abbrescia, M (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) ; Avanzini, C (Pisa U.) ; Baldini, L (Pisa U.) ; Baldini Ferroli, R (Frascati) ; Batignani, G (Pisa U.) ; Battaglieri, M (INFN, Genoa) ; Boi, S (Cagliari U.) ; Bossini, E (Pisa U.) ; Carnesecchi, F (CERN) ; Cavazza, F (INFN, Bologna) et al.
The need for reducing the emission of gases, potentially contributing to the greenhouse effect and climate change, has impacted many fields, including scientific research. The Extreme Energy Event (EEE) collaboration started, already several years ago, a series of tests aiming at finding a more eco-friendly replacement for the gases used in the Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPCs) of its network. The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) experiment, a joint project of the Centro Fermi and INFN Italian national research institutes, has a dual purpose: a scientific research program for measurements of the cosmic rays flux at ground level and an intense outreach and educational program with an active contribution of students and teachers in the construction and operation of the detectors in High Schools. The network counts 60 tracking detectors, each made by three Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPC), operated so far with a gas mixture composed by 98% C$_2$H$_2$F$_4$ and 2% SF$_6$. [...]

First results on new helium based eco-gas mixtures for the Extreme Energy Events Project / EEE Collaboration
The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Project, a joint project of the Centro Fermi (Museo Storico della Fisica e Centro Studi e Ricerche "E.Fermi") and INFN, has a dual purpose: a scientific research program on cosmic rays at ground level and an intense outreach and educational program. The project consists in a network of about 60 tracking detectors, called telescopes, mostly hosted in Italian High Schools. [...]

Observation of Rayleigh-Lamb waves generated by the 2022 Hunga-Tonga volcanic eruption with the POLA detectors at Ny-Ålesund / Abbrescia, M (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) ; Avanzini, C (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Baldini, L (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Ferroli, R Baldini (Frascati) ; Batignani, G (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Battaglieri, M (INFN, Genoa) ; Boi, S (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) ; Bossini, E (INFN, Pisa ; Pisa U.) ; Carnesecchi, F (CERN) ; Casula, M (Turin, Cosmo-Geofisica Lab) et al.
The eruption of the Hunga-Tonga volcano in the South Pacific Ocean on January 15, 2022, at about 4:15 UTC, generated a violent explosion, which created atmospheric pressure disturbances in the form of Rayleigh-Lamb waves detected all over the globe. Here we discuss the observation of the Hunga-Tonga shock-wave performed at the Ny-Ålesund Research Station on the Spitsbergen island, by the detectors of the PolarquEEEst experiment and their ancillary sensors. Measurement of the cosmic charged particle rate at sea level in the latitude range 35$^{\circ }\div $ 82$^{\circ }$ N with the PolarquEEEst experiment / Abbrescia, M (Bari U. ; INFN, Bari) ; Avanzini, C (Pisa U.) ; Baldini, L (Pisa U.) ; Ferroli, R Baldini (Frascati) ; Batignani, G (Pisa U.) ; Battaglieri, M (INFN, Genoa) ; Boi, S (Cagliari U. ; INFN, Cagliari) ; Bossini, E (Pisa U.) ; Carnesecchi, F (CERN) ; Cavazza, D (INFN, Bologna) et al.
After its successful campaign of measurements beyond the Polar Arctic Circle, the PolarquEEEst experiment measured the cosmic charged particle rate at sea level in a latitude interval between 35$^{\circ }$ N and 82$^{\circ }$ N. In this paper, these measurements are described and the corresponding results are discussed..

Ecological transition for the gas mixtures of the MRPC cosmic ray telescopes of the EEE Project / EEE Collaboration
The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Collaboration is fully involved in an ecological transition. The use of the standard gas mixture, \ce{C_2H_2F_4}+ \ce{SF_6}, has stopped in favor of an alternative green mixture based on \ce{C_3H_2F_4} with the addition of He or \ce{CO_2}. [...]

In this paper evidence that the increased response of SiPM sensors to the passage of charged particles is related mainly to Cherenkov light produced in the protection layer is reported. The response and timing properties of sensors with different protection layers have been studied..

In this paper, different Silicon PhotoMultiplier (SiPM) sensors have been tested with charged particles to characterize the Cherenkov light produced in the sensor protection layer. A careful position scan of the SiPM response has been performed with different prototypes, confirming the large number of firing cells and proving almost full efficiency, with the SiPM filling factor essentially negligible. Results on Multiple Coulomb Scattering from 12 and 20 GeV electrons on Carbon targets / MUonE Collaboration
Multiple scattering effects of 12 and 20 GeV electrons on 8 and 20 mm thickness carbon targets have been studied with high-resolution silicon microstrip detectors of the UA9 apparatus at the H8 line at CERN. Comparison of the scattering angle between data and GEANT4 simulation shows excellent agreement in the core of the distributions leaving some residual disagreement in the tails..
