Design and evaluation of injection protection schemes for the FCC-hh injector options / Renner, Elisabeth (CERN ; TU Vienna) ; Barnes, Michael (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Bruce, Roderik (CERN) ; Burkart, Florian (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Lechner, Anton (CERN) ; Stoel, Linda (CERN ; TU Vienna) ; Velotti, Francesco (CERN) et al.
The Future Circular Collider (FCC) study considers several injector scenarios for FCC-hh, the proposed 100~TeV centre of mass hadron collider located at CERN. The investigated options include amongst others to use the LHC at 3.3~TeV or a superconducting SPS at 1.3~TeV as a High Energy Booster (HEB). [...]

Injection and Dump Systems for a 13.5 TeV Hadron Synchrotron HE-LHC / Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Barnes, Michael (CERN) ; Ducimetière, Laurent (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Hofer, Michael (CERN) ; Kramer, Thomas (CERN) ; Lechner, Anton (CERN) ; Renner, Elisabeth (CERN) ; Sanz Ull, Alejandro (CERN) ; Senaj, Viliam (CERN) et al.
One option for a future circular collider at CERN is to build a 13.5 TeV hadron synchrotron, or High Energy LHC (HE-LHC) in the LHC tunnel. Injection and dump systems will have to be upgraded to cope with the higher beam rigidity and increased damage potential of the beam. [...]

Conceptual Design Considerations for a 1.3 TeV Superconducting SPS (scSPS) / Burkart, Florian (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Benedikt, Michael (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Milanese, Attilio (CERN) ; Schmidt, Janet (CERN)
The Future Circular Collider for hadrons (FCC-hh) envisaged at CERN will require a High Energy Booster as injector. One option being studied is to reuse the 6.9 km circumference tunnel of the SPS to house a fast-ramping superconducting machine. [...]

The High-Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) upgrade represents a challenge for the full chain of its injectors. The aim is to provide beams with a brightness a factor of two higher than the present maximum achieved. [...]

Operational performance of the machine protection systems of the Large Hadron Collider during Run 2 and lessons learnt for the LIU/HL-LHC era / Zerlauth, Markus (CERN) ; Antoine, Alain (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Carlier, Etienne (CERN) ; Charifoulline, Zinour (CERN) ; Denz, Reiner (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Lechner, Anton (CERN) ; Magnin, Nicolas (CERN) et al.
The Large Hadron Collider (LHC) has successfully completed its second operational run in December 2018. To allow for the completion of the diverse physics program at 6.5 TeV, the machine has been routinely operating with stored beam energies up to 300 MJ per beam during high intensity proton runs as well as being frequently reconfigured to allow for special physics runs and important machine development studies. Considerations for the Injection and Extraction Kicker Systems of a 100 TeV Centre-of-Mass FCC-hh Collider / Kramer, Thomas (CERN) ; Barna, Daniel (Wigner RCP, Budapest) ; Barnes, Michael (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Burkart, Florian (CERN) ; Ducimetière, Laurent (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Senaj, Viliam (CERN) ; Stadlbauer, Tobias (CERN) ; Woog, David (CERN)
A 100 TeV center-of-mass energy frontier proton collider in a new tunnel of ~100 km circumference is a central part of CERN's Future Circular Colliders (FCC) design study. One of the major challenges for such a machine will be the beam injection and extraction. [...]

Asynchronous Beam Dump Tests at LHC / Wiesner, Christoph (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Bracco, Chiara (CERN) ; Carlier, Etienne (CERN) ; Ducimetière, Laurent (CERN) ; Frankl, Matthias (CERN) ; Fraser, Matthew (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN) ; Heßler, Christoph (CERN) ; Kramer, Thomas (CERN) et al.
The detailed understanding of the beam-loss pattern in case of an asynchronous beam dump is essential for the safe operation of the future High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) with nearly twice the nominal LHC beam intensity, leading to correspondingly higher energy deposition on the protection elements. An asynchronous beam dump is provoked when the rise time of the extraction kickers is not synchronized to the 3 us long particle-free abort gap. [...]

Preliminary Estimate of Beam Induced Power Deposition in a FCC-hh Injection Kicker Magnet / Chmielinska, Agnieszka (CERN ; Ecole Polytechnique, Lausanne) ; Barnes, Michael (CERN) ; Bartmann, Wolfgang (CERN) ; Burkart, Florian (CERN) ; Goddard, Brennan (CERN)
The Future Circular Collider for hadrons (FCC-hh) will require a fast injection kicker system that is highly reliable and that does not limit accelerator performance. Important considerations in the design of such a system are machine protection constraints, collider filling factor and hence rise and fall times of the kicker magnet field. [...]
