First results on new helium based eco-gas mixtures for the Extreme Energy Events Project / EEE Collaboration
The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Project, a joint project of the Centro Fermi (Museo Storico della Fisica e Centro Studi e Ricerche "E.Fermi") and INFN, has a dual purpose: a scientific research program on cosmic rays at ground level and an intense outreach and educational program. The project consists in a network of about 60 tracking detectors, called telescopes, mostly hosted in Italian High Schools. [...]

Ecological transition for the gas mixtures of the MRPC cosmic ray telescopes of the EEE Project / EEE Collaboration
The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Collaboration is fully involved in an ecological transition. The use of the standard gas mixture, \ce{C_2H_2F_4}+ \ce{SF_6}, has stopped in favor of an alternative green mixture based on \ce{C_3H_2F_4} with the addition of He or \ce{CO_2}. [...]

The Extreme Energy Events (EEE) experiment, a joint project of the Centro Fermi and INFN Italian national research institutes, has a dual purpose: a scientific research program for measurements of the cosmic rays flux at ground level and an intense outreach and educational program with an active contribution of students and teachers in the construction and operation of the detectors in High Schools. The network counts 60 tracking detectors, each made by three Multigap Resistive Plate Chambers (MRPC), operated so far with a gas mixture composed by 98% C$_2$H$_2$F$_4$ and 2% SF$_6$. [...]

The existence of time correlations in detectors separated by distances much larger than the size of the highest energy extensive air showers (EAS) has been long discussed over the years. Several mechanisms have been proposed to justify the existence of such events and, in the last decade, some experiments have also tried to search for correlations on a large scale distance, beyond one hundred kilometers. Towards a full and realistic simulation framework for the Extreme Energy Events experiment / EEE Collaboration
The network of MRPC (Multi-gap Resistive Plate Chambers) telescopes of the Extreme Energy Events experiment (EEE) was designed to study very high energy cosmic rays through detection of secondary cosmic muons in the hadronic shower. To better understand and predict the behavior of such events, a GEANT4-based simulation framework that well reproduces the response of individual telescopes was built. [...]

Looking for long-range correlations among the EEE telescopes / EEE Collaboration
The search for long-range correlations among air showers is one of the main goal of the Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Project. The existence of such events has only been supposed theoretically through several physical mechanisms, the most convincing being the so-called GZ effect, based on the photodisintegration of a heavy primary nucleus in the solar field. [...]

In this paper, the description of a new activity started at INRIM Time Laboratory at the end of year 2019, is proposed. It is based on the on-going support provided to the Extreme Energy Events (EEE) Cosmic Rays Observatory, for the metrological characterization and optimization of its timing system. [...]
