A non-invasive bidirectional beam profile monitor using beam-induced fluorescence upon a thin sheet of gas has been developed at the Cockcroft Institute in collaboration with CERN and GSI. This device is particularly suited to the Electron Beam Test Stand, and as such, a bespoke gas injection has been optimized for this specific use-case to provide diagnostics unavailable to conventional scintillator screens. An electron beam test stand has been designed and constructed at CERN as part of the High Luminosity LHC (HL-LHC) project, in collaboration with the ARIES project, to test components related to the Hollow Electron Lens (HL-LHC) and the GSI Space Charge Compensation Electron Lens (ARIES). This comprehensive test facility incorporates normal conducting solenoid magnets, including horizontal and vertical correctors, which generate fields of fractional Tesla magnitude. [...]

TALOS (Total Automation of LabVIEW Operations for Science): A framework for autonomous control systems for complex experiments / Volponi, M. (CERN ; Trento U. ; INFN, Trento) ; Zielinski, J. Modern physics experiments are frequently very complex, relying on multiple simultaneous events to happen in order to obtain the desired result. The experiment control system plays a central role in orchestrating the measurement setup: However, its development is often treated as secondary with respect to the hardware, its importance becoming evident only during the operational phase. The Future Circular Collider (FCC) study foresees the construction of a 90.7 km underground ring where, as a first stage, a high-luminosity electron-positron collider (FCC-ee) is envisaged, operating at beam energies from 45.6 GeV (Z pole) to 182.5 GeV (ttbar). In the FCC-ee experimental interaction regions, various physical processes give rise to particle showers that can be detrimental to machine components as well as equipment in the tunnel, such as cables and electronics. Beam gas curtain monitor: Vacuum studies for LHC integration and operation / Castro Sequeiro, C (CERN) ; Ady, M (CERN) ; Bregliozzi, G (CERN) ; Chatzigeorgiou, N (CERN) ; Churchman, A R (CERN) ; Kersevan, R (CERN) ; Lefevre, T (CERN) ; Mazzoni, S (CERN) ; Pigny, G (CERN) ; Rossi, A (CERN) et al.
A beam gas curtain (BGC) monitor has been designed to obtain information about the relative position between the LHC proton beam and the hollow electron lens electron beam through a minimally invasive process. Its working principle relies on intersecting the path of both beams with a supersonic gas curtain, introduced transversely into the LHC beamline, to produce a fluorescence signal. [...]

Cesium telluride photocathodes are known to offer high quantum efficiencies under UV illumination combined with good lifetimes compared to other semiconductor photocathodes, making them very popular electron sources for particle accelerator applications. The development of photocathode preparation, characterization, and related expertise at a single accelerator laboratory can be challenging, expensive, and time consuming. [...]

CIRCUS: an autonomous control system for antimatter, atomic and quantum physics experiments / AEgIS Collaboration
A powerful and robust control system is a crucial, often neglected, pillar of any modern, complex physics experiment that requires the management of a multitude of different devices and their precise time synchronisation. The AEgIS collaboration presents CIRCUS, a novel, autonomous control system optimised for time-critical experiments such as those at CERN's Antiproton Decelerator and, more broadly, in atomic and quantum physics research.
